This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
Surpassing the Hokage in the Boruto series isn’t an easy feat to accomplish, even for someone like Boruto Uzumaki, who seemingly surpassed Naruto and Sasuke in power long ago. Sure, Boruto has more than enough strength and firepower to protect Konoha with his Otsutsuki abilities, but being Hokage isn’t just about defeating powerful enemies and taking the ultimate seat.
Fortunately, with the current direction of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it’s not difficult to deny that Boruto is in a good place to surpass the Hokage eventually. In Naruto and Sasuke’s absence, Boruto has been carrying the internal and external burdens of Konoha on his shoulders even without claiming the Hokage title. Right now, the only thing that is slowing him down is the effects of Eida’s omnipotence, which cost him the faith of the people.
Boruto: Naruto Will Never Be Hokage Again, And Kishimoto Has Already Confirmed It
Naruto is sealed and will never be Hokage again in Boruto. Kishimoto revealed just that.
Boruto Must Master His Otsutsuki Powers
Boruto Can’t Be Considered a Threat
- Boruto can’t use the full power of Karma without Momoshiki’s approval.
- Boruto’s Otsutsuki powers are still unstable.
Unlike Kawaki, Boruto can’t use his Otsutsuki powers without worrying about Momoshiki taking full control of his body. Instead of using the powers of Karma in combat, he opts to rely on his own strength and abilities, even against powerful villains who are far stronger than him, just to keep Momoshiki in check. This limitation lowers Boruto’s chances of winning, as he fails to pour his full potential into battle.
As long as Momoshiki resides within Boruto, the latter considers himself a threat not just to Konoha, but to the rest of the world. Boruto knows how evil and cruel Momoshiki can be, so much so that he’s willing to die at the hands of Kawaki or Sasuke just to permanently erase the threat Momoshiki poses to the world. Unless Momoshiki undergoes a change of heart and decides to be obedient, things may change.
Use the Karma and whatever else you want. Now go out there and destroy our foes!—Momoshiki to Boruto
However, as of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 29, Momoshiki and Boruto are not on good terms despite their temporary alliance. Defeating Jura and the Shinju Clones demands more of Boruto’s strength, which Momoshiki is willing to exploit for his personal gain. If the deal proceeds as planned, Boruto can finally use the full powers of Karma at the cost of his freedom.
Boruto Must Restore the Uzumaki Household
One of the Best Ways to Regain Trust
- Boruto lost everything due to Omnipotence.
- Boruto is Konoha’s enemy.
One of Boruto’s goals in the series is to restore the Uzumaki household, which means he must unseal Naruto and Hinata from the Daikokuten Dimension, prevent Himawari’s future death, and knock some sense into Kawaki. On top of controlling Momoshiki and the powers of Karma, he needs to protect his family without losing himself in the process. This is one of the best ways to regain Konoha’s trust, especially its people who still believe he killed Naruto and Hinata due to the effects of Omnipotence.
Unfortunately, none of these goals can be achieved overnight, as Boruto continues to stand against Jura and the God Trees while being treated as a fugitive. Everything is out of his control, but at least he can still find ways to protect Himawari and the village by inviting allies who are willing to lend their power to him. Just recently, Inojin, Shikadai, and a few next-generation ninjas joined Boruto’s cause for Himawari’s sake, bringing new strength to his side.
Boruto Must Protect Konoha and the Shinobi World
Boruto Should Become the Ultimate Protector
As fans know, the Hokage acts as the symbol of hope for the entire village, and for Boruto to truly surpass the Hokage in power and influence, he must become the ultimate protector of the world, much like Naruto and Sasuke, who went above and beyond against the likes of Madara, Obito, and Kaguya Otsutsuki during the Fourth Great Shinobi War.
In Boruto’s case, defending Konoha and the entire shinobi world from Jura, the God Trees, Kawaki, or any villainous Otsutsuki would be an extraordinary accomplishment for him. This is easier said than done, considering the level of power he must overcome. Still, for someone like Boruto who has so much potential, there’s hope that he can surpass even the strongest Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki.
