Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is about to release a new chapter in a few days, and the series has been an amazing sequel to both Naruto and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. While many fans had some issues with Boruto: NNG, it seems that Boruto: TBV takes a strong direction as it explores plot points left unresolved in the previous manga.

One of the biggest mysteries in Boruto: TBV is when Naruto Uzumaki will return to the story, since he was tapped out of Boruto some time ago. After all, what has happened to him, and what could be his role once he is back?

What Happened to Naruto in Boruto?

At the end of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Kawaki sealed Hinata and Naruto away in another dimension. He did it to stop them from interfering with his plan to kill Boruto Uzumaki and to ensure their safety during the hard times ahead. Kawaki probably sees his own actions as sinful, but he claims to have done it out of love.

Love is a central theme in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Many different characters claim that love justifies their actions, be they good or bad actions, sparking an interesting discussion about what true love really means. In any case, Naruto and Hinata remain, as far as we know, sealed for now.

How Could Naruto Return in Boruto TBV?

The series has hinted multiple times that Naruto and Hinata will eventually return, so it’s just a matter of time. The most obvious way for them to come back is Kawaki choosing to release them. Another possibility is that they’re released after Kawaki is defeated or even killed.

If you don’t like your destiny, don’t accept it. Instead, have the courage to change it the way you want it to be.

There’s also the possibility that Naruto and/or Hinata will break free from the seal using their own powers, which would certainly mean one or both of them getting a power-up. However, the series is opening multiple plot points now, so it seems it will take a while before Naruto returns to action. It would be nice if the series focused on them to show what has happened to them during this time.

Will Naruto Come Back Stronger?

It seems likely that Naruto will either get a power-up that will allow him to return or get one soon after he is back, depending on how he is released from the seal. With everyone getting insanely overpowered in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it would make no sense for Naruto not to also become stronger.

Regardless of Naruto getting a power-up, what will definitely happen once he is back is that everyone in Konoha will be shocked, since they believe him to be dead. Some might even believe he is a clone or something like that. Soon after Kawaki sealed him away, Eida’s Omnipotence altered the memories and reality for almost everyone, which means that only a handful of people know the truth—those who, for some reason, are immune to this Shinjutsu.

What Will Naruto Do After He Returns?

If everyone believes that Naruto is in fact Naruto, he will likely reclaim his position as Hokage and help Konoha against the villains. If Eida’s Omnipotence is still working at the time he returns, it remains to be seen if Naruto is somehow affected by it—since Himawari apparently isn’t fully affected, there is a good chance that Naruto is also immune to it. However, even if Naruto remembers everything, it seems unlikely that he would be mad at Kawaki. He might confront him verbally, but Naruto is usually quite forgiving of everyone, and he knows that Kawaki isn’t evil.

However, if Eida’s Omnipotence makes people believe that Naruto is a fake, he will likely become an outcast like Boruto, which would be an interesting development. This could be the perfect reason for Sarada, who would likely believe Naruto is real, to go after him and train with him. An arc with Sarada training under Naruto’s supervision is something fans have long been waiting for. Whether accepted or rejected by Konoha, Naruto will likely play a key role in a potential final arc against a powerful Otsutsuki like Shibai.
