“But the Fact Remains, Spider-Man Is a Menace!” Marvel Rivals Players Ask for a Nerf, as They Side With J. Jonah Jameson

Enough is enough! Some Marvel Rivals players are sick and tired of Spider-Man and want to see him nerfed into oblivion. It might sound like an exaggeration, but the truth is that non-Spider-Man mains usually can’t stand him, no matter if he’s on their own team or on the enemy team.

What’s Wrong With Spidey?

Generally speaking, Spider-Man has long been one of the most beloved Marvel characters. He is one of the first characters children get to know. His design is simple enough and he stands for all the right things. Not to mention, everyone daydreamed of swinging from skyscrapers when they were kids, right?

Well, as it turns out, the Marvel Rivals version of Spider-Man is quite perfect, and thus, quite annoying. One player noted: “Spiderman in this game makes me understand why the writers keep bullying him in the comics”.

So, what’s the problem? Basically, if you main Spider-Man, you don’t have any problems, you swing around, fight the bad guys, and life is great. Meanwhile, your teammates and enemies are rolling their eyes.

It’s a well-known fact that support players loathe running after Spider-Man, trying to heal him. Also, many players noted that even though it looks like he’s doing a lot, Spider-Man usually doesn’t contribute a lot. He just annoys everyone. On the other hand, if you’re playing against Spider-Man, he just isn’t fun. He’s too fast, and he’ll usually go straight for the Strategist on the opposing team.

Spider-Man Is Currently One of the Most Disliked Heroes in Marvel Rivals

Obviously, players on both teams find Spider-Man annoying. If he were a good teammate, or fun to fight, players wouldn’t be asking the developers for a nerf. However, many claim that they want to quit when they see him in a game, and he is almost in every game.

Kintuse noted: “The biggest issue Spider-Man faces balance-wise is that he is a flanker without any means of gaining shields or sustain. It’s either he completely dominates or a complete detriment to his team with no in-between is how extreme the gameplay is”.

Tricky-Painting9430 stated: “Spider-Man is like that OP version of Mercy [Overwatch] with a one-shot combo and 2x as much speed and movement. Also fun fact I learned yesterday, Spider-Man’s “uppercut” hits people under him by like 5m at least (I was in the air as storm and he was above me) it’s wild”.

Now, as you probably know, the developers have built themselves quite a reputation for listening to players, so who knows, maybe they’ll do something about Spider-Man as well. In the meantime, good luck with avoiding Spidey, enjoy the game and see you out there.
