Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies is Hiding Its New Mini Boss in Plain Sight

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies is Hiding Its New Mini Boss in Plain Sight

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is right around the corner, and with it comes its own version of the long-running and beloved Zombies mode. Over the years, Zombies has become one of the biggest selling points of the franchise, and it looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is bringing a fascinating new villain into the spotlight.

The trailer for Zombies revealed a cowboy hat-wearing antagonist who shares striking similarities to The Ghoul from Amazon’s live-action Fallout series. While Walton Goggins isn’t portraying this villain, this mystery character is compelling, but based on the key art for Black Ops 7 Zombies, there is another terrifying threat ready to attack: a giant zombie bear.

What is Known About Black Ops 7’s Zombie Bear?

As of now, all that’s known about this terrifying zombified bear is what is shown through the Zombies key art. Black Ops 7 Zombies revealed plenty of fresh details when it comes to the main story and cast of characters, but beyond that, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding the mode. The main story features the main cast being sent to the Aether Dimension where their souls are stolen by the mysterious Ghoul-like antagonist. Right now, it’s unclear how the zombie bear will play into this narrative, but based on the mode’s key art, it looks terrifying.

The cast of Black Ops 7 Zombies includes Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Mac Carver, Maya Aguinaldo, Takeo Masaki, Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinksi, and Edward Richtofen.

Instead of just worrying about hordes of zombies, it’s now clear that hulking mutated bears are now going to be part of the problem, too. Until Black Ops 7 finally launches, it’s hard to say whether the zombie bear is just one of many or a singular mini boss. Hopefully, it’s the latter, but only time will tell. The thought of having to fight off multiple zombified bears is borderline sweat-inducing, so fingers crossed that this encounter is saved as a one-off fight.

The Wait for Black Ops 7 is Almost Over, but There’s Fierce Competition

  • Black Ops 7 comes out on November 14.
  • It will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Although there is plenty of excitement for Black Ops 7, the shadow of Battlefield 6 looms overhead, as the latter is set to arrive a month before the former. With Battlefield 6 getting its own Battle Royale mode, Call of Duty could face some of its fiercest competition yet.

Even though Battlefield 6‘s BR mode could shake up Warzone, the Call of Duty franchise still has the benefit of Zombies. Ever since the mode was first introduced in 2008, it has become a staple of the series, and remains a standout piece of the Call of Duty brand. Now that fans have a better idea of what to expect from Zombies when Black Ops 7 drops, it could give the game the edge that it needs against Battlefield 6.

Round-based Zombies maps all follow a familiar rhythm of intense action, then eerie preparation

New rumors have suggested that Battlefield 6‘s BR mode could arrive by the end of October, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Of course, only time will tell how this FPS head-to-head showdown will go, but Black Ops 7‘s Zombies is teasing some really intriguing concepts. With a Call of Duty movie now in the works, the franchise is clearly looking to expand in new ways, and while adding a zombie bear to Zombies definitely isn’t as big as a full-blown film, it’s still a smaller example of how the series is experimenting.
