Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is barely a couple of days old, but the Lead Writer says that the chances for a DLC are “good”.
Released on April 24, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 quickly became the talk of the town. It is the first game by a small “new” French studio, Sandfall Interactive, founded in 2020. Their goal is to “deliver incredible stories with intriguing characters in gorgeous fantasy worlds”. Quite a daunting task, but one they managed to pull off and then some. Sure, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has all the hallmarks of a successful RPG, but the studio did not expect a success as huge as this one.
It is already considered one of the best games of 2025. So much so that it even has its own bunch of haters, which is commonplace with successful IPs. And when the initial dust settled in, some folks already want to know: is there a DLC planned? You’d think that it is still way too early for questions such as these, but the Lead Writer had something interesting to say about that.
The Lead Writer of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Says the Chances of a DLC Are “Good”
It came to our attention that Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, the Lead Writer of Sandfall Interactive, was answering various questions on her Instagram profile. One excited fan used the opportunity to ask her whether there are any plans for a DLC or a sequel. “Also, can you answer one question? There’s any plans about a DLC? Or to see The Expeditions before?” Jennifer replied:
“Nothing concrete that I can say at the moment, we’re honestly still just trying to process everything that’s happening. It’s been a lot to take in!
We’ve always said if there is strong desire from the players that we would love to do something more, and based on the responses so far, I’d say chances are good. =)”
So there you have it, words from the Lead Writer herself. Now, knowing what the story is, it will be a pretty daunting task to make a meaningful DLC. But the prospect of other Expeditions does sound exciting. But we expect that some time will pass before we get any news regarding a DLC/sequel. Until then, we have the original game to enjoy!
