Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has just been released, and the gaming community is in for a treat. To top it all off, the Clair Obscur devs are left speechless as their game is the highest rated of 2025.
After a lot (and we mean, a lot!) of hype, Sandfall Games finally released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. In short, this game mixes turn-based combat (quite a lot like Final Fantasy games) and a gripping plot. And as a cherry on top, it also features some pretty popular Voice Actors like Jennifer English (Shadowheart from BG3) and Andy Serkis (Gollum from The Lord of the Rings). This sounds like a recipe for success, and it is! So much so that it turns out Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best-rated game of 2025, surpassing even Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Split Fiction, and Monster Hunter Wilds.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is the Highest Rated Game of 2025, and the Devs Are Speechless
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released on April 24. And, just a single day after the official release, it turns out that it managed to get an impressive score of 92/100 on Metacritic. For the record, even the best games struggle to reach 90/100, usually floating somewhere around an 88 or 89 score.
This caught the dev by surprise, who posted on their X page: “We are currently the top reviewed game on Metacritic for 2025. Speechless. So many incredible games have been released this year. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
As further proof, you can see that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the top-rated game on Metacritic, even managing to be placed better than the famous Blue Prince.

Bear in mind that there are all Critic reviews, and User reviews for Clair Obscur are yet to be added. But we have no doubt that they too will be more than positive. Hats off to Sandfall Games!
