Some games truly deserve to be celebrated! We might be partial, but all the awards this game has won so far were very well-deserved. On the evening of February 13, Helldivers 2 developers expanded their ever-growing collection and added four major D.I.C.E. awards.
Helldivers 2 Won in Four Categories at the D.I.C.E. Awards
What are the D.I.C.E. Awards? The D.I.C.E. Awards is a prestigious awards ceremony held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. Formerly known as the Interactive Achievement Awards, it is hosted by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. These awards are quite highly regarded. This year’s D.I.C.E. Awards was the 28th edition of this event.
Helldivers 2 was nominated in six categories and won in four. The developers won Online Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement: Original Music Composition, Action Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design. The game was also nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Game Design and Game of the Year but lost in both categories to Astro Bot.
Helldivers Celebrate the Wins
The Helldivers 2 community is known for standing by the devs through thick and thin, so they gladly celebrated the D.I.C.E. awards. The players took the opportunity to express how well-deserved these wins were.
Prestigious_Cap2654 noted: “If you listen to the isolated tracks on Spotify, you really realize just how goddamn good the soundtrack is. It all sounds straight out of a $200 million blockbuster movie”.
Another player, Elprede007, added: “Something a lot of people take for granted in games is audio design. I have been hyper-critical of this game in the past, but one thing they had right and never f**ked up was the audio. The music is amazing, it instills a weird patriotism in me for a world that doesn’t exist”.
Even though the players are sometimes disappointed by some aspects, the fact is that they adore this game. The effort that the devs put in is obvious, and there is a lot more to come.
