Dedicated Player Shares A Couple of Tricks to Make Your Monster Hunter Wilds Run Better and Look Better on PC

MH: Wilds is amazing in many aspects, but optimization is not one of them. But one player shared a bunch of tricks you can use, to make Monster Hunter Wilds both run and look way better on your PC.

On the last day of February 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds was released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S. The game proved to be a massive success, with more than a million players upon release. The game features tough monsters (which players already found sneaky, underhanded ways of defeating), memorable NPCs, cute pets, various weapons, and beautiful visuals. But, to support all of that on a PC, you need a pretty good rig. Better than what you’d expect, because the optimization is not that great. To combat that, one player made a detailed guide on what to do.

How to Make Your Monster Hunter Wilds Look and Run Better on PC

We all know that the game has some issues when running on PC, and until Capcom makes some improvements to better optimize it, the players have to resort to mods to patch things up. One player, named -RuDoKa-, shared a comprehensive guide on how to improve the MH: Wilds performance on your PC.

The gist is to find and install the following mods:

  • REFramework – “The mod required for installing 90% of mods, it also disables the anti tamper, which will significantly reduce in-game freezes.”
  • Disable Post Processing Effects – “It removes the weird post-processing effects and makes the game look amazing, even better in FSR quality than in Native resolution without mods…I’ve never had a mod that has such an impact on the quality of a game. It’s truly incredible what an effect it has on the game.”
  • Direct Storage – “…reduce your frame rate drops when you turn the camera by improving texture loading.”

They also recommend the Persistent Buff Glow Removal mod, which “removes the permanent highlight on your armor that ruins your drip and hurts your eyes.” It is handy, but not as essential as the previous ones.

Finally, there is a special “reshade that improves the game’s shadows and colors without changing the atmosphere (optional, you can also modify it to your liking)”, found on Google Drive, on this link.

You should check out the OPs guide for more details, but we hope that these tweaks and mods make your game run smoothly and look better, that is until Capcom decides to do something about the game’s optimization (if they ever do).
