Yes, you heard that right. Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 are arriving soon. While it was surprising enough to see it appear during the Nintendo Switch 2’s Direct on April 2, Toby Fox’s official social media pages and newsletters revealed even more information.
Don’t worry, though. The Switch 2 isn’t the only one getting these latest chapters. Here’s everything you need to know about Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4, including their release dates and platforms.
Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 release date and available platforms
Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4’s release coincides with the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch on June 5, 2025. Alongside the Switch 2, you’ll also be able to play Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4 on PC, PS4, PS5, and the Switch 1 on the same day.
In short, you won’t have to worry about your Switch friends spoiling Chapter 3 and 4 for you if you were waiting for a PC or PlayStation release. They’ll all be available at the same time, letting you experience the same launch day as those on Switch 2.
The launch of Chapter 3 and 4 also marks Deltarune’s official “release” date. Although Deltarune Chapter 1 was originally released in 2018 on PC, with it launching on Switch and PS4 in early 2019, its first two chapters are considered free demos that anyone can play. Now that two more chapters are arriving, Deltarune will swap from a two-chapter demo to a paid game that’ll receive more chapters over time.
How much will Deltarune cost?
Deltarune’s full release will cost $24.99, with the soundtrack priced at $14.99. Toby Fox confirmed this through his Chapter 3 and 4 announcement newsletter following the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, highlighting that you’ll only need to purchase the game once before getting future chapters for free as they release.
Deltarune console differences explained
Deltarune console differences explained
Although Deltarune is releasing on PC, Switch, and both PlayStation consoles, Toby Fox mentions a few differences in the game’s April 2 newsletter. Here are some of its highlights:
- The Switch 2 will have a special room that takes advantage of mouse controls on two controllers.
- While other platforms have this same room, their control scheme is completely different.
- You can import save files from Deltarune’s Switch version to the Switch 2.
- You can also import save files from Deltarune’s PS4 version to the PS5.
- Deltarune will now have PlayStation trophies.
While some slight differences exist between importing saves and the Switch 2’s differing control, the content will remain the same across every edition. You’ll also get the same music and dialogue options, so don’t worry about having to buy multiple copies to compare everything. The only thing you’ll potentially miss out on is experiencing Deltarune’s new “special” room with the Switch 2’s new mouse-like joycon mechanics.
