Devil May Cry Fans Hit the Jackpot As Dante & Vergil Return in New Promo

A little over one year since the release of Netflix’s Devil May Cry anime, the series is finally coming back for Season 2. Season 1 of the Devil May Cry anime ended with Dante imprisoned by DARKCOM, and Vergil serving Mundus – the main villain of the original Devil May Cry game. Since Season 1 loosely adapted Devil May Cry 3 (chronologically the first game in the series), it makes sense Season 2 will either adapt DMC1 or Dante & Vergil’s rivalry from DMC3.

Ahead of Season 2’s release, Netflix has dropped two new character posters of Dante and Vergil, with their signature weapons Rebellion and Yamato. Given Vergil’s major role in the story, it stands to reason he’ll be the series’ co-lead alongside Dante moving forward (or at least for Season 2, if the Devil May Cry anime sticks to the story in the games).

Devil May Cry Season 2 Teases Dante & Vergil’s Heartbreaking Backstory

Netflix’s new character posters for Dante and Vergil describe the twin brothers as “Two halves of a whole,” lending further evidence that Vergil will be a major player in Devil May Cry Season 2. Dante’s poster shows off his new design based on his Devil May Cry 1 outfit, his red color scheme, and him holding Rebellion with a shot of young Dante looking horrified, presumably watching his mother Eva die.

Vergil’s poster features his blue color scheme, revised design heavily based on Devil May Cry 3, and his sword Yamato with a flash of young Vergil looking determined. Given the emphasis on young Dante and young Vergil in the new posters, fans can expect Devil May Cry Season 2 exploring their backstory and the tragic death of their mother.

Devil May Cry Season 2 Premieres May 12, 2026

The new Devil May Cry anime posters feature Season 2’s May 12, 2026 premiere date. Although no episode count has yet been revealed, it’s more than likely Season 2 will run for at least as long as Season 1 did (eight episodes). The first season of Netflix’s Devil May Cry, while generally well-received, was controversial with fans due to major changes to the series’ lore and cast, as well as the divisive White Rabbit character.

Devil May Cry Season 2 has a chance to iron out Season 1’s flaws by offering a more faithful follow-up, as well as adapting Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 1 with greater accuracy than its predecessor. Recent trailers and promo material for Season 2 at least suggest that the next season of Devil May Cry will be an improvement over Season 1, if nothing else. All episode of Devil May Cry Season 2 will stream on Netflix on May 12, 2026.
