Devs’ Sly Reaction to a Question About the Orbital Gas Barrage Raises Hope in the Helldivers 2 Community

Gasdivers will have a field day with this one! After getting the Gas Mines last week, the Helldivers 2 community has been inquiring about the possibility of getting the Orbital Gas Barrage as well. Even though the developers were quite tight-lipped on the matter, some Helldivers claim they look… shifty.

Orbital Gas Barrage, When?

On March 6, Arrowhead devs surprised the community with an anniversary live stream. Now, you might be wondering how it is an anniversary stream. The answer is simple, the devs decided to celebrate two anniversaries with this stream! The first anniversary of Helldivers 2 was on February 8, and the first installment’s tenth anniversary was on March 3. So the devs decided to talk, answer some questions, and, of course, play both games to mark the occasions.

Several developers talked about their roles, with Mitch Ayre and Katherine Baskin (the famous Baskinator, AH Community Manager) being sort of hosts/moderators. Players had an opportunity to get the answers to some of their burning questions.

During a segment with Chris Brettman (at the 1:47:58 mark), someone inquired about the Orbital Gas Barrage being added to Helldivers 2. Baskinator quipped: “Ooh, my friend, I would give anything. I’ll do anything”. On the other hand, Ayre and Brettman paused for a second before smiling and agreeing the Orbital Gas Barrage was a fun idea. Brettman added they would “pass it along”.

Helldivers 2 Players Think the Devs Know More Than They Let On

Now, we’d start by saying that this interaction seems innocent enough to us. However, many Helldivers are quite positive that the devs’ demeanour indicates they knew more than they were willing to admit.

Sad-Needleworker-590 noted: “You can see by their reaction that they already tested it and may add it in the future”. Another player, Rly_Shadow, added: “Ya, they both looked at each other like. ‘Are you gonna tell them? Should I tell them? Can we tell them?’ Because let’s be honest. Any idea that we come up with, especially as simple as barrage gas, they have already thought of, I imagine”.

Hey, one can hope, right? Even if the Orbital Gas Barrage isn’t in the works already, it’s always good to voice your wishes to the devs, they might listen.
