Diablo 4 Season 11 brings back a classic foe as new world boss

And yet you can have heavenly updgrades to your gear in this season as well

The Sanctuary is never at peace and, before the end of the year, a new attack by forces of hell will happen in Diablo 4, but this time the offensive is being led by a famous hellish face. The new season for the game, Season of Divine Intervention, is going to release on Dec. 11 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

As the face of the Season of Divine Intervention, we have Azmodan. Part of the roster of famous demons in the Diablo universe since the first game in the series, Azmodan is coming as a new world boss, and he won’t be alone. Belial, Andariel, and Durial, along with the Lesser Evils, will also appear in Sanctuary, and it will be your job to take them down. Although he is being added as part of the seasonal update, Azmodan will stay permanently in the game (I just wish we could have him with his basketball skin from Heroes of the Storm).

New dangers are not the only thing players can expect from this update. Season 11 is coming with two main season systems: Divine Gifts and Sanctification. While the former is a mechanic that unlocks passive skills for your character (nothing too different from what we have seen in season 10 with the Chaos Powers), the latter is a new step to the item progression system. By invoking the powers of High Heavens, you can modify an item and give it its final form. The changes to the item may vary from improving an Affix to even making it indestructible.

Some of the general changes coming to the game have already been mentioned by developers in recent interviews, like the change to enemies’ behavior. We can expect to see smarter enemies who are harder to predict and won’t make single-button builds the answer to everything.
