Diablo 4 Season 9 class tier list

Diablo 4 Season 9 class tier list

Diablo 4 Season 9 is now live on the full version of the game, and every class has undergone a few changes.

While there’s no new class in Season 9, we have six options to pick from. Not all classes are equal, as Blizzard has released numerous buffs and nerfs over time. As a result, the class tier list for Diablo 4 Season 9 differs greatly from previous iterations.

Complete Diablo 4 Season 9 class tier list

We’ve used three tiers to separate the six classes available in Diablo 4 Season 9 based on multiple factors.

  • The buffs and nerfs on their active and passive abilities.
  • The ease of scaling/leveling up in the current season.
  • Available unique items.
  • Changes in Paragons.
  • Preferences based on their PTR versions.

S-tier classes are the best options to use in this current season. They’ll provide you with the most benefit when it comes to clearing in-game content and unlocking maximum rewards. A-tier classes are decent, but they don’t quite reach the pinnacle of the current meta. They’re still good classes to use but limited compared to S-tier. Finally, B-tier includes classes that, although still enjoyable to play, don’t quite stack up in this season’s meta.

S-tier

Our top choice for Diablo 4 Season 9’s best class is Spiritborn. If you liked using this class last season, you’ll enjoy it even more in this one. Spiritborn is clearly at the top, whether it’s leveling or clearing endgame content. Unique items like Balazan’s Maxtlatl work well with almost any build belonging to this class.

Spiritborn was already at a strong point in previous seasons, with Blizzard buffing its abilities even further. If you’re struggling to clear Diablo 4’s endgame content, this should be your choice.

Our second choice is Necromancer. There’s some personal bias in this choice. Both Necromancer and Sorcerer are in strong positions in this new season. I’ve used the Necromancer class for the longest period across multiple seasons, putting this class in S-tier. My favorite is Summoning builds that rely on raising the undead. Leveling is slightly tricky compared to the Sorcerer class, but you shouldn’t have any issues with endgame content.

A-tier

Our first choice for Diablo 4 Season 9’s A-tier classes is Sorcerer. It’s a close battle between placing Sorcerer and Necromancer in S-tier versus A, especially since Sorcerer has received wide-scale buffs across all abilities. Lightning Spear has amazing in-game stats and strong affixes, while passives like Precision have been buffed as well.

There are multiple choices and options when it comes to builds from this class. Compared to the Necromancer, you should have an easier time leveling up with this class. However, its limited gameplay variety brings it just shy of S-tier, bringing it to a high A-tier rank.

Our next choice is Barbarian. If Season 9 is your first time playing Diablo 4, starting with Barbarian is a blast. However, the class has been readjusted significantly compared to its PTR version due to bugs.

I still enjoy the Barbarian class partially due to nostalgia, as it was my first class. Beyond this, it’s a decent choice to begin the season and learn the different dynamics before branching out into other classes.

B-tier

Our first choice for this tier list’s B-tier section is Rogue. This class remains limited in build variety, and most of its builds have been nerfed into the ground. Deathmask of Nirmitruq, in particular, feels extremely underwhelming. Unless you’re an expert player and know what to do at every point in the game, you should avoid Rogue builds.

Last but not least, we have Druid. Druid felt like the worst class to use in the PTR despite its increased damage across all its abilities. It’s a class that I would love to test more over time.

It definitely has the potential to move up, especially as Blizzard continues making notable changes from the PTR. For now, though, it’s weak compared to the rest of the game’s classes, bringing it down to a bottom-tier position.

This Diablo 4 Season 9 tier list is subject to change as the game’s PTR testing continues. We’ll continue to update this list with more information as updates continue to release.
