Dragon Ball: Every Character Who Can Turn Legendary Super Saiyan, Ranked

Dragon Ball: Every Character Who Can Turn Legendary Super Saiyan, Ranked

Originally introduced in Dragon Ball Z: Broly โ€“ The Legendary Super Saiyan as a non-canon form, Legendary Super Saiyan is the ultimate Super Saiyan transformation, bestowing a level of power regular Super Saiyns just can’t muster on their own. Once Dragon Ball Super made Legendary Super Saiyan canon in the Tournament of Power, the transformation went from Perfect Cell tier to God level.

Legendary Super Saiyan is not only the final form of SSJ1, it offers the user unimaginable power, allowing them to grow stronger throughout combat. The strongest Legendary Super Saiyans can overwhelm Dragon Ball‘s greatest fighters with ease, making them extremely dangerous in life or death battles.

Dragon Ball: 16 Strongest Movie Only Transformations, Ranked

Dragon Ball’s movie-only transformations often defy all power scaling logic, and are much stronger than they have any right being.

Dragon Ball Z’s Broly is the OG & Weakest Legendary Super Saiyan

The original Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly debuted in Dragon Ball Z: Broly โ€“ The Legendary Super Saiyan, where he effortlessly managed to overpower Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Piccolo all at the same time. The only reason Broly loses is because of the astronomical plot armor every Dragon Ball Z movie is contractually obligated to give Goku.

Broly was created to be the single most powerful villain in the Dragon Ball franchise, and just based off his first two movies, it shows. Broly grows stronger the longer he fights, making him very dangerous if he isn’t put down quickly (which is next to impossible). That said, Broly was introduced fairly early in the grand scheme of the series โ€“ especially relative to Dragon Ball Super โ€“ so his appearances in DBZ never had his Power Level surpassing early Buu Saga characters.

Kale Was the First Canon Legendary Super Saiyan

Many Dragon Ball fans forget, but Broly wasn’t the first canon Legendary Super Saiyan when he made his canonical introduction in Dragon Ball Super: Broly โ€“ Kale had already beaten him to the punch in the anime’s Tournament of Power. Broly’s Universe 6 counterpart, Kale is Caulifla’s best friend and her universe’s Legendary Super Saiyan.

When she becomes a Legendary Super Saiyan, Kale goes from weaker than Super Saiyan 2 Goku, to strong enough to completely destroy Super Saiyan Blue Goku in a fight. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Legendary Super Saiyan Kale outright eliminates most universes herself. Unlike DBS Broly, however, Kale doesn’t have the same raw natural Power Level to make her a threat to literal Gods.

Karoly & Karoly Black Are Even Stronger Than Vegito

Karoly in Dragon Ball Dokkan Battle

One of the strongest fusions in the Dragon Ball franchise, Karoly was introduced in the 3DS JRPG Dragon Ball Fusions. Karoly is the result of Goku and Broly fusing together via EX-Fusion, a version of Fusion Bulma developed that combines all the best elements of the Fusion Dance with the Potara earrings.

Since Karoly is half Broly, he naturally has access to the Legendary Super Saiyan form (albeit slightly modified thanks to Goku’s half of the fusion maintaining some of his basic Super Saiyan traits). Dragon Ball Fusions describes Karoly as even stronger than Vegito, which is a massively impressive feat. By fusing with Goku Black, Broly can also become Karoly Black, who instead mixes Super Saiyan Rosรฉ with Legendary Super Saiyan (albeit with no notable power boost over regular Karoly).

Everyone Forgets That Kefla is Technically a Legendary Super Saiyan

When Caulifla and Kale use the Potara earrings to fuse during the Tournament of Power, they become Kefla โ€“ one of the strongest fighters in the multiverse. Since Kefla is half Kale, she’s actually a Legendary Super Saiyan. In fact, Kefla is the only character in the series who can turn Legendary Super Saiyan 2 canonically, judging by the fact her hair maintains shades of green once she turns SSJ2.

In the Dragon Ball Super anime, Kefla is ridiculously powerful and strong enough to fight relatively evenly with Ultra Instinct Sign Goku, only being eliminated due to Goku being a better fighter. As far as Power Levels go, Kefla might very well be the third-strongest character in the Tournament of Power. This is not the case in the Dragon Ball Super manga, which scales her down to around Ultimate Gohan’s level.

Broly From Dragon Ball Super Has the Potential to Be the Strongest Character in the Franchise

Dragon Ball Super‘s version of Broly is far and away the strongest Legendary Super Saiyan, and it frankly isn’t even close. By the end of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Broly’s gotten so strong that the only character capable of defeating him in a straight-up fight is Gogeta. Even then, Gogeta needs to turn Super Saiyan Blue just to beat him.

The fact a fusion between Goku and Vegeta needs a God form just to fight Legendary Super Saiyan Broly says everything about Broly’s Power Level. As of Dragon Bal Super: Super Hero‘s manga epilogue, Broly is training to master his Legendary Super Saiyan form and strong enough to spar with Gohan Beast in his basic Super Saiyan form. Once he’s gained full control of LSSJ, Broly will be an absolute monster.
