Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO features plenty of great single-player content, with the game’s fantastic Episode Battle mode providing the lion’s share. However, those who venture into the Custom Battle menu can also find a series of special Bonus Battles, which lean further into the what-if?-style shenanigans that make the game’s story mode so compelling.

There are 40 Bonus Battles in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, each of which will provide players with EXP and Zeni upon its completion. Most of the Bonus Battles in Sparking Zero are fairly easy to complete. However, there are a handful that have unique victory conditions that aren’t fully explained, which can make clearing them a bit of a nightmare. Players will find detailed instructions on how to complete these troublesome Bonus Battles beneath the table at the bottom of this page.
Updated January 26, 2024, by Thomas Bowen: The release of the first DLC pack introduces three new Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO Bonus Battles, two of which rank among the most difficult in the game. Those returning to the title after a long absence will likely need to spend some time practicing, as taking down Cell Max at the Cell Max games and defeating Dr. Gero and his Androids can be incredibly difficult for rusty players. Sadly, the rewards for completing these new Bonus Battles are a little lackluster, although players can at least gain a sense of satisfaction from knowing that they’ve completed some of the game’s hardest content.

How to Complete the Master Roshi’s Training Bonus Mission in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO
In order to complete Master Roshi’s Training, players will need to defeat Master Roshi using the last move that he called out. Every twenty seconds, he’ll alternate between Kamehameha, Rock, Paper, Scissors, and Goku’s Ultimate, the latter of which he refers to as “your strongest Power.”
How to Complete the Welcome to Frieza Force! Bonus Mission in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO
To complete Welcome to Frieza Force!, players will need to defeat all of the enemies without performing certain actions. Using an emote at any time will result in an instant loss, as too will hitting Frieza or finishing off Zarbon with Nappa’s Ultimate. Players will also need to make sure that they don’t go more than 30 seconds without landing an attack. Thankfully, the time between finishing off an enemy and finding the next one is not counted toward this total.
How to Complete the Body Change Turns the Tables! Bonus Mission in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO
Those hoping to complete Body Change Turns the Tables! will need to use Captain Ginyu’s Body Change Ultimate to switch bodies with Frieza and then win the fight. After using body change, they won’t be able to use Frieza’s Ultimate, so it’s a good idea to let him whittle Ginyu’s health right down before performing the switch.
How to Complete the Late-Onset Madness Bonus Mission in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO
In order to complete Late-Onset Madness, players will need to defeat Goku without using any ki blasts, which includes Vegeta’s Ultimate. It’s worth noting that Vegeta’s throw doesn’t count here despite the animation including a ki blast, so players can still use it as much as they like. However, using any of Vegeta’s other ki attacks will result in an instant failure.
