Dying Light: The Beast is taking a different approach to gameplay compared to Dying Light 2, and that’s a good thing for the franchise’s future.
Continuing this trend, Techland released another Dying Light 2 update in mid-April 2025. Identified by version number 1.22, this patch introduces co-op and UX improvements, as well as some additional content. Dying Light 2‘s recently returned Tower Raid mode has been updated with 27 new weapons, including a trio of Elemental Pistols. These additions aren’t filler, but come with unique traits that can create new strategic advantages, thus encouraging players to experiment. Tower Raid rewards have also been updated, offering a variety of exclusive cosmetics and items, including the Breach outfit.
Dying Light 2 Update 1.22 Makes Claiming Tower Raid Rewards More Convenient
Techland has also refined the game’s UX with the goal of making Tower Raid rewards more convenient to claim. As a result of these changes, it’s no longer possible to miss out on unlocked items, as players now have the ability to claim unlocks at their own convenience. The 1.22 update also introduces some minor HUD tweaks that clearly communicate when new rewards are earned and thus available to claim.
The spring 2025 patch further refines Dying Light 2 co-op through a variety of tweaks and bug fixes. Enemy behavior issues stemming from player synchronization have been curtailed, while the HUD has been tweaked to offer clearer visual cues and an overall more streamlined information overview. The game’s developer tools have also been updated with the addition of a visual mods tool that allows tinkerers to customize environment, weapon, and clothing textures. While the tool is currently exclusive to PC, it’s planned to eventually make its way to the console versions of the game as well.
The 1.22 update marks the official start of Techland’s ambitious 2025 roadmap for Dying Light 2. Moving forward, the developer is planning a big summer event that it’s framing as part of its celebrations of the series’ 10th anniversary. A Halloween event is also on the agenda, together with a major fall update whose scope is expected to be comparable to the 1.22 patch. Another Dying Light 2 Winter Tales event is then planned for late 2025.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human Update 1.22 Patch Notes
Tower Raid — new weapons and rewards
The latest patch introduces an expanded arsenal with the addition of 27 new weapons (including 24 Elemental Weapons and 3 Elemental Pistols you asked for as well), each offering unique capabilities and strategic advantages, encouraging players to explore and adapt their gameplay styles. In tandem with this, the rewards have been updated, offering an array of enticing exclusive skins and other items. Among these rewards, you can find a highly anticipated Breach outfit that allows you to roam the city with the first of the original Tower Raid skins.
Additionally, we’ve implemented several UX improvements to ensure a seamless reward experience. Players can now claim rewards at their convenience, eliminating the risk of missing out on unlocked items. Furthermore, we’ve enhanced communication on the HUD to clearly indicate when rewards are earned, ensuring that players are always informed about their progress and achievements.
Co-op improvements
In the Spring Update, you’ll experience a slew of enhancements designed to elevate your co-op experience. We have addressed and resolved various enemy behavior issues affected by synchronization between players. This intends to ensure smoother gameplay and reduced discrepancies, including the amount of enemies teleporting and lagging.
The HUD has also received substantial improvements, providing clearer visual cues and streamlined access to vital information, ultimately enhancing situational awareness with multiple players on screen.
We’re not stopping here, though! The co-op feature remains a key focus, and we’ve been making steady progress on it over the past few months. Our commitment to enhancing it will continue into the future.
Visual Mods tool
Ever wished you could change a specific detail in Villedor? Add a splash of color here, or add a darker, moodier atmosphere there? Look no further as we’re thrilled to introduce a new visual mods tool to Dying Light 2 Developer Tools. Currently available for PC, it offers a wide range of customization options, allowing players to modify textures in the environment, on weapons and even clothing. While visual mods are only available on PC for now, we’re hard at work making them available on consoles soon to encourage the entire community to get even more creative!
