It happened, Angel’s Venture is no more. The community is still in shock. The pictures of the explosion are haunting the players all over social media. Many players are now regretting that they didn’t try harder, as that could have saved the planet. Well, some Helldivers 2 players claim that losing Angel’s Venture was planned all along.
What Happened to Angel’s Venture?
The Meridian Singularity collided with Angel’s Venture on February 13. Many players observed this event live. As always, the developers issued an in-game briefing that explained what happened. According to the briefing, the gravitational pull of the Meridian Singularity tore Angel’s Venture to pieces.
The briefing noted: “The land cultivated by generations. The lives of the Super Earth citizens whose evacuation could not be prioritized. The proud pines shading the Democratic Youth Scouts campground. All gone forever, ripped to shreds by savage cosmic forces. Finally, the Illuminate, hiding behind their mask of intelligence and sophistication, have revealed what they truly want: carnage. The President of Super Earth has announced a Galaxy-wide mourning period of 24 hours”.
Fractured pieces of this once-majestic planet are the only things left as a reminder. The devs stated: “A solemn reminder of the desolation Tyranny leaves in its wake”. We are sure that this horrifying monument will become the favorite place for all Helldivers to visit when they need a moment of reflection.
Helldivers Probably Couldn’t Have Prevented the Demise of Angel’s Venture
Still, the loss of Angel’s Venture wasn’t enough to unite all Helldivers 2 players. Even in the wake of this devastating tragedy, the players are divided into those who believe this could have been prevented and those who claim this would have happened anyway.
Toonlink246 stated: “A log of defenses during this MO shows that we lost by less than 4%. Nothing is ever rigged”. They added: “I’m sick and tired of people pretending this was “unwinnable”. We need to be willing to say the truth: the idiots on Erata Prime lost us this MO and there’s no other reason”.
Even though many players wholeheartedly understood this frustration, the majority of players didn’t agree that the MO was winnable. After all, J.O.E.L is the Game Master, and he would have found a way to spice up the story.
Trusted_Entity issued a PSA: “Failure is by design, don’t stress it. This game is all about killing our enemies and spreading democracy. The story that is being told is just flavor and not really in our control. The struggle and failure to complete the Major Orders is part of the handcrafted story that the devs want to tell us and it’s legitimately cool. Like the government of Super Earth, any control you think we have is an illusion”.
So, dear Helldiver, don’t worry, even though the loss of Angel’s Venture is devastating, we’re sure this storyline isn’t even nearly over. We’ll get to avenge all the citizens who weren’t top priority. But, for now, let’s mourn their sacrifice. For Liberty and Super Earth.
