Remedy’s next major title, FBC: Firebreak, has been confirmed to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles on June 17th. The upcoming title represents a new approach from the studio behind the Alan Wake and original Max Payne games, with FBC: Firebreak being Remedy’s first multiplayer co-op shooter.

The game’s setting, enemies, and perhaps several of its characters will no doubt be familiar to fans of Control, but players new to the Remedyverse may be stepping into the paranatural confines of the Oldest House for the first time when FBC: Firebreak releases later this year. The game takes place after the events of Control, and will involve players gearing up as members of the Federal Bureau of Control’s Firebreak response unit to clean up the remnants of the extradimensional threat. Though it doesn’t seem like players will be stepping into the shoes of Control protagonist Jesse Faden this time, they will get to wield a wide variety of unpredictable Altered Items as weapons in the first-person multiplayer shooter.

Remedy Is Having a Surprisingly Strong End to 2024

Remedy Entertainment appears to be closing out 2024 with plenty in store for fans of Alan Wake 2, along with a brand-new co-op first-person shooter.

FBC Firebreak has gradually shown fans pieces of what to expect from the game following its formal reveal late last year, but a new developer update video has finally announced that the game will be releasing across all platforms on June 17th. Additionally, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to the game from day one. The game’s standard edition is priced at $39.99 USD, with the Deluxe Edition sitting at $49.99. PC players will be able to purchase the game either through Steam or the Epic Games store.

FBC: Firebreak Release Date

Beyond just the well-timed release date for FBC: Firebreak, the game’s latest developer update has also given fans a much greater look at gameplay than ever before, showing off some of the new weapons, enemies, and mechanics. Players will get to build loadouts from tons of different weapons and paranatural objects, from giant wrenches to highly-explosive garden gnomes.

With Firebreak crews consisting of no more than three players, missions will have fans returning to familiar sectors of the Oldest House, while also introducing new areas to fight in. While described as a standalone game and story, FBC: Firebreak will certainly give Remedy fans plenty to play with while also bridging the gap between Control and its eventual sequel, which is confirmed to be in development.
