It’s been a long road to this point, but the fantastic Fire Force anime is set to finally conclude in the next episode or two in the Winter 2026 anime season. The long-awaited final war against the White-Clad cult and the beginning of the Great Cataclysm have both arrived, and all Fire Force fans expected as much. The real question is how all this will end as Shinra and Sho Kusakabe face Haumea in the bizarre realm of Adolla to decide the future once and for all.
For the most part, it’s already too late to protect the Tokyo Empire that the Kusakabe brothers once called home, what with the hungry flames devouring everyone and everything in their path. One world is ending as another begins, but at least the Kusakabe brothers can fight to make planet Earth transform on their own terms. One way or another, Fire Force‘s shonen anime universe needs to shift into what fans saw in Soul Eater years ago, and it may happen because of what the Kusakabes do to Haumea — or perhaps what they tell this oddly serene saintess.
Fire Force Episode 24 Preview: Haumea Welcomes the Apocalypse
Will Shinra and Sho find a way to defeat Haumea and save the world from the Great Cataclysm?
Shinra and Sho Hold Fate in Their Hands
Most of the fighting in Fire Force is already over, with Fire Force‘s strongest characters either emerging victorious or getting vanquished once and for all. Fire Force blitzed through that final war, either for good or ill, with many of the most anticipated doppelgangers suffering swift defeat at the hands of Tamaki Kotatsu, Shinmon Benimaru, and the rest. In fact, those battles and their outcomes might feel performative to Fire Force viewers, since those fights just padded the runtime while the real showdown in Adolla is still taking shape. It takes more than a physical victory over doppelgangers to stave off the end of the world, after all.
That’s why all eyes are on Shinra and Sho Kusakabe as the brothers visit the far-off realm of Adolla to confront Haumea, who is nothing like the energetic, bizarre girl whom they saw in earlier episodes. At last, Haumea is acting like the self-proclaimed saintess she is, shedding her erratic behavior for chilling calm. This is the real Haumea whom heroes like Arthur Boyle the knight and Akitaru Obi never saw, a pious girl wholly devoted to ending the world in flames to end all suffering forever. Haumea is resolute in Adolla, determined to end the world that channeled so much painful despair into her overwhelmed mind.
Fire Force: The 7 Best-Written Villains in the Franchise, Ranked
Fire Force is carried by its amazing villains. These managed to stand out the most.
Right now, the stakes are physical and personal alike as the Kusakabe brothers face off against Haumea, and it’s uncertain how either conflict will be resolved in Episode 24. Neither Shinra nor Sho can actually land a blow on Haumea thanks to the latter’s divine guidance, making Haumea a passive, defensive sort of final boss. That contrasts her with the endgame threats found in the shonen “big three,” such as Madara Uchiha and King Yhwach, but Haumea is no less troublesome for it. In this way, Haumea represents inevitable, unstoppable change that the heroes must make peace with, one way or another. Shinra’s usual methods for saving the day won’t work here, even with Sho’s support.
Most likely, the Kusakabe brothers will have to try out the personal angle, finding a way for Haumea to accept all of humanity’s nature, comfort and pain alike. Haumea is determined to destroy everything to rid herself of the bad side, but “take the bad with the good” just might change her mind if Shinra and Sho can persuade her with personal examples. That, or they might convince Haumea to save just enough of the Earth to make room for the Soul Eater world, rather than wipe out the entire thing in apocalyptic flames. Notably, Arthur survived his fight against Dragon after all and just might return, in time to contribute to whatever endgame the Kusakabe brothers cook up.
