Following the most recent Fortnite update, Epic Games revealed that players will be able to earn the Pyg the Butcher skin and more cosmetics for free as a part of its Fortnitemares event for 2025. Fortnite is currently in the middle of Chapter 6 Season 4, which introduced a major collaboration with the Might Morphin Power Rangers franchise and the hit Netflix movie Kpop Demon Hunters.
Ahead of Fortnitemares 2025, Epic Games revealed that a wide variety of Halloween-themed collaborations will be coming to Fortnite during the month of October. In the coming days and weeks ahead, players can look forward to seeing characters from franchises like Scooby-Doo, Friday the 13th, Scream, and more make their way to the island. Epic Games has even launched a collaboration with the rapper, singer, and songwriter Doja Cat, who will have skins in the Item Shop and appear as a boss on the map.
Fortnite Players Can Earn the Free Pyg the Butcher Skin
Once players install the latest update and launch their game, they’ll be treated to a new trailer showing off some upcoming Fortnitemares skins. Players may also notice a fresh announcement on the upper left side of their screen. In the announcement, Epic Games revealed that players will be able to earn a free skin in Fortnite during the Fortnitemares event, which will officially kick off at 9 AM on October 9. The skin is called Pyg the Butcher, which is also an appropriate description of what the outfit looks like, as the skin features a pig head on a human body. Pyg can be seen sporting a butcher’s apron, long black rubber gloves, chains wrapped around his chest, and what appears to be a sausage link bandolier.
In addition to earning a free skin, fans will be able to claim the Butcher’s Knife pickaxe, an emote, and a back bling. Once Fortnitemares officially kicks off, players will be able to earn these cosmetics by gaining account levels. It seems as if gamers will need to gain upwards of 15 levels to claim everything, but they’ll have plenty of time to do so, as the offer doesn’t end until November 1.
Players have the ability to earn account levels in a wide variety of Fortnite‘s game modes, not just battle royale. So, gamers should feel free to play whichever mode that calls to them. Of course, people should also be on the lookout for special event quests that will reward them with additional XP to boost their account level quicker. With so much content to enjoy and even more just around the corner, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Fortnite.
