The Frieren anime also had incredible animation that visually appealed to many fans.

Now, after a 2-year break, Frieren is going to return soon. In January 2026, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 is kickstarting, but there’s a huge catch. Compared to Frieren Season 1 which had 28 episodes, Season 2 will only have 10 episodes, which is hugely disappointing.

The trouble with Frieren doesn’t even stop there. The Frieren anime is fast catching up to the manga, and it will soon run out of material to adapt. This is a massive concern. Luckily, Frieren already has a perfect replacement in store for the fans as another similar series, called Delicious in Dungeon is on the rise. Delicious in Dungeon features an amazing cast of characters with an exciting adventure and a compelling story. Its second season is already in production, and with the manga having already concluded, there is no concern for the anime running out of material.

While fans are sad to see the unfortunate news concerning Frieren, there is no need for the fans to worry as there is already a perfect replacement, and that’s none other than the hit anime, Delicious in Dungeon.

Delicious in Dungeon dropped its first season in 2024, and fans immediately fell in love with it. It is quite clear to see that Delicious in Dungeon and Frieren share many elements. Both series are set in a fantasy world, and both feature a lovable cast of characters. On top of that, both series have many elf characters, which fans of the Frieren series are very fond of.

Just like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Delicious in Dungeon also features a main character who is an elf. Marcille, from Delicious in Dungeon, while not the same character as Frieren, will be a nice replacement until the latter can return.
