- Fennec Fox copies a neighbor’s mutation, offers high RNG potential for buffs.
- T-Rex spreads a random mutation across the garden, best for advanced players.
In Grow a Garden, one of the most important assets to any successful farm is the pets and mutations that can be applied to crops, granting incredible multipliers and bonuses that drastically increase anything from sell cost to growing time. The pet mechanic opens the door for lots of different approaches when it comes to optimization, but utilizing pets that interact with or give mutations is one of the best strategies out there.
From mutation duplication, to spreading powerful effects to entire sections of crops, mutations and the pets that work with them are an invaluable asset to any player looking to grow their garden to its fullest potential. These are the best pets for players looking to make use of all the tools at their disposal.

Grow a Garden has added many adorable pets that give your crops some great perks; here’s the list of the most to least valuable ones.
8
Disco Bee
A Party For Everyone
- Effects: Every ~20m, has a ~13% chance to grant a nearby fruit Disco mutation.
- Obtained from: Premium/Anti-bee egg
The Disco Bee is easily one of the best pets in the game, thanks to its ability to constantly grant nearby fruits an incredible buff that boosts their sell value by 125x. Having this pet around can be a huge boost to the player’s overall skill production. Even if the chance might only be 13%, it is still more than enough to buff quite a few crops in a short period.
The downside is that the chance of this bee dropping from the egg is 0.25%, but that is due to the immense power afforded to the player if they do manage to find it. In general, the Disco Bee forms one of the core components of the best gardens out there, and continues to pump out multiple buffs every single hour.

Fennec Fox
Duplicating Those Around You
- Effect: Copies a random mutation from a neighbor’s garden and triggers it on one of the player’s crops.
- Obtained from: Premium Oasis egg
The Fennec Fox is a utility pet that relies a bit more on the player’s surroundings than the garden itself. The ability to use the mutations from other players opens the door for an interesting game of RNG that can roll incredibly high. Even if the player doesn’t manage to land one of the best mutations, even a slightly weaker effect can still benefit the garden.

Grow a Garden has lots of seeds, but only some are truly worth planting. Here’s a simple tier list breaking down the best and the worst ones.
The downside is similar to a lot of the Divine pets: the drop rate from the eggs is incredibly low to compensate for the high power level that the pet affords. With that being said, the short cooldown combined with the potential for some very massive highs makes the Fennec Fox a useful pet that every player should at least consider.

T-Rex
Roaring Across The Garden
- Effect: Apex Predator: Occasionally eats a random mutation from a fruit in your garden, then roars and applies that mutation to other fruits in your garden.
- Obtained from: Primal Egg
The T-Rex is a powerhouse that’s more than just a furry friend to cuddle up to, with an effect that randomly spreads a single mutation across the garden. This allows rarer mutations like Disco to become widespread buffs in larger sections, transforming the garden into a money-making machine.
It is a great choice for players who already have a way of generating powerful mutations elsewhere or for those who want to attempt to spread their existing buffs across the board. The T-Rex is perfect for more advanced gardens that want that extra push.
5
Queen Bee
Spreading The Pollen Everywhere
- Effect: Every ~20 Minutes, a nearby fruit becomes magically pollinated, applying the Pollinated mutation. Every ~23 Minutes, the pet with the highest cooldown refreshes its ability does not refresh pet mutation abilities.
- Obtained from: Bee egg
As the queen of all the bees, it makes sense for her effect to be this powerful. The Queen Bee is a super-strong pet that provides a simple yet strong mutation at a fairly fast rate that increases the sell value of the mutated crop by 3x. It also has a secondary, more useful effect that benefits from having another pet to fully make use of the cooldown refresh.
Using the Queen Bee with other pets like the T-Rex gives players a loop of multiplication that continues to spread and mutate over and over again. Because it works off the highest cooldown, it is easy to choose a specific pet to target by intentionally putting in the higher cooldown ones alongside some weaker yet still useful secondary ones.
4
Chicken Zombie
Infection In The Best Way Possible
- Effect: Every 25m, 20% chance a nearby fruit becomes Zombified, increases egg hatch speed by 10%
- Obtained from: Introduced during update 1.06.0
The Chicken Zombie isn’t just a funny reference to an iconic movie scene. It’s also a very strong pet that has a great effect that has a short cooldown and provides a great boost to the player’s crop value. Zombified is a mutation that grants the plant a 25x sell value. Because it’s such a high chance on such a low cooldown, players will almost always have a few handy infected plants.

The secondary effect related to egg hatch rates is a handy extra tool that makes hunting for stronger pets a lot easier. Being able to cycle through eggs faster and have less downtime between hatches means that players will have a much higher chance at acquiring the pet they are looking for, saving time and helping their production value.
3
Praying Mantis
Worshipping the Gods Of Luck
- Effect: Zen zone, every 80s, prays for 10.30s, granting a 1.51x variant chance to crops within 10.30 studs.
- Obtained from: Exotic/bug egg
The Praying Mantis pet is a fast-paced critter that adds a variant chance to crops nearby, allowing for buffs ranging from Gold to Rainbow with a huge 50x multiplier. This pet is so strong because of the rate at which it prays, and the potential for some high value in a very short amount of time.
The pet’s biggest downside is the lower range within which it applies its effect. Rather than spreading a huge buff across the board, the Mantis has to be much closer and hence only works on smaller groups of tightly packed crops. But in situations where the player can grant the variant chance to multiple plants at once, the rewards can be tremendous.
2
Butterfly
Leveling The Mutation Stacking
- Effect: Rainbow Flutter: Every ~30m, flies to a nearby fruit with 5+ mutations, removes all mutations from it, and turns it rainbow. Ignores favorited fruit.
- Obtained from: Premium/anti-bee egg
The Butterfly pet is the perfect companion to pair with other pets that apply mutations quickly. Being able to remove weaker effects in place of a 50x multiplier is a hugely beneficial effect that massively levels up the player’s Sheckle production.
The cooldown might be quite long, but the time between the effects is more than enough for the player’s plants to acquire enough mutations to get a handy bonus. It’s pretty hard to match both in its consistency and raw multiplication capabilities.
1
Polar Bear
Bringing In The Chills
- Effect: Every ~90s, ~10% chance to turn a nearby crop chilled or frozen
- Obtained from: Legendary egg
The Polar Bear is among the simplest yet most powerful pets in the game, with two potential outcomes that range from a 2x multiplier to 10x if the player manages to luck out with a frozen mutation. These smaller-scale buffs might not sound too useful, but being on a 90-second cooldown means that many plants can get even a small boost in next to no time at all.
Some of the best mutation stacks use Frozen as a main component, meaning that the player can generate huge amounts of frozen plants rapidly. Even if they can’t stack loads of mutations right away, the 10x sell value is still more than enough to warrant using this mighty mammal.
