Guys Got the Short End Of The Stick Once Again – The First Descendant Players Disappointed With the Male Hot Springs Skins

It looked like the guys finally got some attention. Unfortunately, it was far from enough, and The First Descendant players are once more disappointed with the male swimsuit, ie, Hot Springs skins.

The February 13 update had two main points: the fixes to the Void Erosion Purge missions and the Hot Springs event. The latter added the highly-requested swimsuit skins (we had only a couple of those in the summer of 2024) and the players went crazy for them in no time. They were first shown during the last devlive, during a “promotional” video, showing almost all the girls wearing the swimsuits, as well as Esiemo. He looked cool enough, and we all expected that the rest of the guys would follow suit. Unfortunately, when the event went live, the rest of the skins were a bit disappointing…again.

The First Descendant Players Disappointed With the Male Hot Springs Skins and Here’s Why

In the promo video, we saw Esiemo only in his swim shorts. As he is a buff guy, the swimsuit skin also showed him as pretty buff, and the players expected that the “new” swimsuit skins would take into account the body shapes of the guys as well. Unfortunately, he’s the only one, as the other guys have the exact same body type, even Ajax and Kyle. Only Yujin gets special treatment (besides Esiemo) and he’s shown to be skinnier than the rest. Unsurprisingly, the fans were not happy with this.

We all know that it’s the girls who are the focus in TFD, both in design and in gameplay (hopefully, Ultimate Blair will shake things up). But it is like the devs are not even trying. This is the second time that all the guys got one universal swimsuit skin, while the girls each have their own. And the universal skin is hardly anything besides low effort. As one player said, they are there to check the box. The worst part is that they are priced the same (750 Caliber) as the skins for the ladies, and those are unquestionably better designed.

Players are sure that male skins would sell almost as well as female ones if they put any real effort into them. “Us females want to play six pack men too not just females id love to look at nice detailed Yujin” said TheachuRose, and “If they actually put effort into male skins I’d think they’d be surprised by how well they’d sell.” added Gizmo16868.

“You Have To Look Like This to Apply to Become a Descendant”

In conclusion, we can’t deny the fact that the girls get more stylish and visually striking, ie, better skins and the guys are usually done as an afterthought. Of course, this is most definitely due to marketing priorities and sales: the girls’ skins sell more. But the players are miffed with Nexon saying a long time ago that they will look into different body shapes and implement them into universal skins. The most recent batch of skins proved otherwise…unless it is a condition! To become a Descendant as a guy, you have to have a specific body shape…Yujin and Esiemo must have had some connections! Jokes aside, Nexon has been silent on this and we hope they will say something in the March devlive.
