Here’s How to Complete the Sluice Gate Puzzle in RE8 Village

Moreau’s Reservoir is terrifying for those with a fear of water, or simply for those who don’t want to become an oversized fish’s next snack. In Resident Evil Village, if Ethan is to continue looking for his daughter and come out alive, then he’s going to need to know how to turn on the Sluice Gate.

The Sluice Gate is its own puzzle, in which players must first avoid being killed by Moreau while navigating the treacherous waters to get the Crank required to activate the puzzle itself, which may stump even the smartest of players. Below, you’ll find how to turn on the electricity and how to solve the Sluice Gate puzzle!

Resident Evil Village: How to Get Beneviento’s Treasure

Resident Evil Village is filled with secrets, but players who want to get their hands on Beneviento’s Treasure will need excellent timing.

How to Turn on Electricity to the Sluice Gate in Resident Evil Village

After interacting with the inactive Sluice Gate, you will want to venture through the door towards the windmill. At the windmill, you will find a crank that can be pulled, but it breaks halfway through its journey. With the crank broken, you’ll need to head around the back of the windmill and climb down the ladder.

Once you’re at the bottom of the reservoir, walk across the planks and shoot the beam marked with yellow tape to lower the next platform, but watch out for Moreau. To avoid Moreau, only walk across the wooden beams when he’s not locked onto them.

There will be two more beams with yellow tape, found on a large structure on both the left and right. After shooting them, push on ahead and go up the stairs, where you can move a cart into the water, and follow the path it was blocking to interact with a fuse box.

Opposite the fuse box, you can now find different colored switches that will temporarily raise blue and orange platforms. Hit the switches and head towards the shack, where you can find a white switch. Hit the white switch, followed quickly by the orange and blue ones, and run across the platforms to the right.

Continue on the wooden platforms, and push the next cart in your way into the water, where you can walk across to find another cart that will complete the path forward. Now, destroy the green sludge with your gun and activate the lever so you can drop down onto a boat and immediately head out into the building.

Inside the back of the building, look up and shoot the lock to climb the ladder so you can access the top of the second windmill. Now, interact with the Crank to grab it, and head to the right to interact with the broken ladder, and then return to the wheel and place the Crank back in and push.

You can now climb the ladder, cross the zipline to the first windmill, and use the Crank at the first windmill to restore power to the Sluice Gate.

How to Solve the Sluice Gate Puzzle in Resident Evil Village

Now that power has been restored to the Sluice Gate, it’s time to complete the puzzle. At the Sluice Gate, you’ll find 9 different panels, and each of them can be clicked to divert power and change their color. You’ll need to follow the paper on the right, with the third column acting as the bottom row. The answer can be found in the image above, but we’ll explain below:

Blue

White

Red

Black

The black panel on the paper is in the middle column on the bottom row, but on the console, it’s on the middle row of the third column. Therefore, you just need to flip the image to match the console, and doing so correctly will activate the Sluice Gate and disable the water, leaving Moreau stranded, and allowing you to continue on the path.
