How To Open The Door Above The Blacksmith In Nioh 3

To open the door above the blacksmith, you need to complete the Putrid Paradise Myth in Nioh 3. It’s a side quest in the Heian Era, where a warrior is found in a swamp-like area and requires players’ help.

Once you’re done, head back to the small cave under the blacksmith to find Tatsumaro there.

Offer him some dung balls, and he’ll give you a couple of Smithing Texts as well as the key to unlock the door above the blacksmith. There are two chests inside, full of equipment.

Putrid Paradise Myth Guide In Nioh 3

To trigger the Putrid Paradise Myth in Nioh 3, start in Hachijo near the Rajomon: Mibu Avenue Shrine and approach the swamp to find Tatsumaro on one of the roofs. He wishes to remove the stench from his body, so players can guide him to a Hot Spring by following the quest mark on the map. While relaxing, Tatsumaro reveals his house has an amazing bath nearby, but he can’t reach it as there are a lot of yokai. If you agree to help him, he’ll let you use the amazing bath as a reward.

As Tatsumaro joins to fight by your side, head to the Lesser Crucible located deep inside the swamp and defeat the wave of enemies to eventually remove it. Behind the Crucible is a destroyed house with only a putrid bath left. Tatsumaro is distraught and in denial. So, he enters the bath while deluding himself that it’s heavenly, only to die shortly after, which completes the Putrid Paradise quest.

Where To Find And Use The Blackened Key In Nioh 3

Once the quest is complete, go to the Eternal Rift and enter the blacksmith shop. Walk to the corner and head down to the cellar. If you haven’t explored this section yet, destroy the rock using the Guardian Spirit and go down using the roots. Speak with Tatsumaro the Dung Lover and offer him all the dung balls he wants to get some Smithing Texts and the blackened key.

The blackened key, as mentioned before, is used to unlock the gate above the blacksmith. To get dung balls, try to farm Wasps and Gaki Chiefs and then offer them to Tatsumaro. Some enemies drop dung balls in the swamp area where you encounter Tatsumaro for the first time.
