The Voyagers update for No Man’s Sky is one of the most important in the game’s long history. It allows players to build Corvettes, a type of modular spaceship, which players and their friends can walk around in and interact with, even while traveling through space. This guide will show players where to build a Corvette in No Man’s Sky and go through everything they need, including how to get Corvette upgrade parts and how to go for spacewalks.
Where To Build A Corvette & Get The Modules In No Man’s Sky
To build a Corvette-class starship in No Man’s Sky, players will need to fly over to a Space Station, with one of these hubs being found in each star system. Once landed, look for 4 blue teleporters on the left. Take any of these to a space where Corvettes are made.
At the Covette Workshop, players will first need to purchase modules. Here, most players will want to choose the ‘Purchase basic modules‘ option.
Once players have bought these, construction can begin.
How To Build A Corvette In No Man’s Sky
With the modules in your inventory, click on the Corvette Workshop and select ‘Create new Corvette‘. Then, ‘Toggle Module Menu‘ to bring up all the components.
Which Parts First?
The first part to place is Landing Gear. Once selected, the blueprint will show up as green, meaning it can be placed. Now the following modules can be placed:
- Habitation Module – The main space of the ship
- Cockpit – Front of the Habitation Module
- Reactor – Can go underneath, on top, or on the sides
- 2X Thruster – On the sides
- Access Module (Landing Bay) – At the back of the Habitation Module
- Weapon System (Photo Cannon Array) – Can go on the sides, top, or underneath
Each module can be given its own color and finish.
These are the core systems, and if players want, they can finalize the design for now. Upon doing so, they will have the choice to swap their existing smaller spaceship for their new Corvette. Another option is to add to your collection.
Adding More Modules & Modifying The Corvette
To modify the Corvette and add the rest of the modules, click on ‘Modify [Name of Ship]‘ at the Corvette Workshop.
- Main Engine (Pyrodrive Booster) – Can go on the back of the Reactor
- 2X Flight Stabilizer (Arcadia S-Foil) – Can go on the sides of the Habitation Module or other modules, such as the Reactor
- 2X External Plating (Argonaut Cowling) – Can go in front of the Thrusters to protect them
- Ducting Outlet – Can go underneath, on the side, or on top of most modules
That covers all the basic modules, but as can be seen in the Module Menu, there are tonnes of other attachments, allowing players to go wild with customization.
Some modules need to be flipped or rotated to go on the other side. Modules can also be moved around and duplicated, so feel free to experiment.
How To Upgrade A Corvette & Find New Corvette Parts In No Man’s Sky
Upgrading and customizing the Corvette is arguably the best bit of the Voyager update. These upgrades and design choices can be aesthetic, but core module upgrades can provide better weaponry, shielding, and speed. While some of these modules will be swapped out for superior options, players can also build on top of their existing designs, such as by linking the Habitation zones to create corridors.
Adding lots of armor and habitation space will make the ship slower and more cumbersome.
All modifications must be made at a Corvette Workshop in a Space Station. The only exception is the interior design of the Corvette.
Where To Find Salvagable Scrap In No Man’s Sky
To get new modules, players will need to find planets marked with Salvagable Scrap when they scan them. Land on one of these planets or moons, which may be hard to find, and then use your binoculars to look for resources.
Salvagable Scrap has a Wi-Fi-like symbol in a yellow shield. Tag one of these and head over there to excavate with Terrain Manipulator. Down below, there will be some casing that players need to destroy with the Multi Tool laser, and then finally, they can destroy the Salvage Container. Doing so will loot new modules for the Corvette.
Trade Advanced Modules
The modules that players find on planets can either be used if deemed good enough or traded at the Corvette Workshop. Go to ‘Purchase modules‘ and then ‘Trade Advanced Modules‘.
Players can offer up to 3 modules of their own, with better modules increasing the chances of a trade being accepted.
How To Exit Your Corvette & Go On Spacewalks In No Man’s Sky
Unlike normal spaceships in No Man’s Sky, players can exit the pilot’s seat while flying, walk around their Corvette, and even go on spacewalks.
Exit The Pilot’s Seat
While floating through space, press the X key to bring up the ship options, and scroll to ‘Leave Pilot Seat‘. Players can now walk around their Corvette, which, once upgraded, might be quite large with different hallways.
To go on a spacewalk, head to the back and operate the hatch. It’s advisable to only go on a spacewalk with a decent jetpack.
Decorate The Interior
Either while flying or docked, players can enter build mode while walking around their Corvette, allowing them to decorate the interior.
To enter build mode, press Z. Items can be placed if players have the correct materials. Some interior pieces for the Corvette are merely aesthetic, while others are extremely useful. For example, Portable Refiners and Construction Research Units can be placed, or players could upgrade the ship’s storage.
Beam Down To Planet
When hovering just above a planet, players can head to the back of their Corvette, and on the left side of the hatch, there is a button to be beamed down to the planet. On landing, a temporary teleporter will spawn, allowing the players to be beamed back up to the ship when they’re done.
This is a great new way to go around planets collecting rare resources, without wasting fuel with each takeoff.
Skydiving
Players can also skydive off the back of Corvette ships once they are inside the atmosphere, although only do this if you have a way to recall your ship.
Autopilot Management
Before getting out of the seat, players can scroll just past this option to Autopilot Management. Here they can:
- Maintain the current flight path forward
- Autopilot to the nearest Space Station
- Autopilot to any mapped planets in the solar system
