Multiplayer is a key aspect of Elden Ring Nightreign, and the player name you choose when you first start the game can be what is displayed to others in your party. You can choose to display your Online ID or your chosen player name.
Your player name is also the name tied to your current account, and in other FromSoftware games, that decision is permanent. In Nightreign, you can choose to change your player name whenever you want; here’s how to do it.

How To Change Your Name In Elden Ring Nightreign
Your player name is the fictitious name you chose when starting your account, without any major restrictions on what your character is called. To change your player name, you’ll first need to load the game into the account you want to change. From there, anytime in the Roundtable Hold:
- Open up your settings and tab over to the System option, the furthest one to the left.
- Scroll down to the globe icon and select Network.
- Scroll down to Player Name, and click on it to open up the keyboard to type in your new name.
This can be done whenever you want, and there is no restriction, so you can change your name whenever you want, even if it’s just to match the character you’re playing as.

How To Display Player IDs In Elden Ring Nightreign
While the chosen player names are one way to identify teammates, you can also choose to display online IDs instead. This changes everyone’s player names to instead display their online username for whatever console you are playing on. The process of doing this is similar to the one above, except you’ll instead go to the third option in the Network menu, “Display Player Names”.
This setting can also be changed anytime in the main menu before the game even starts up. Overall, this won’t change anything gameplay-wise, except helping you connect with your team through your console’s systems if you want to take the time to do so. At the time of writing, Elden Ring Nightreign has no in-game chat to use, so players have to rely on pings if they aren’t already playing with their friends. Whenever an expedition is finished, you can also select the account of a player to get their online ID for your system, letting you add them to play again if you both decide to do so.
