Out of the Shadows is one of those rarer quests in ARC Raiders that looks easy to complete, but it’s also one of the hardest ones.
Infact, the quest doesn’t have a particular location where you need to reach (but there’s a specific spot on the map that will increase your chances of success) and then destroy a Rocketeer. In case you’re unaware, Rocketeers are the most dangerous drone ARCs you can come across in ARC Raiders.
Let’s look at how you can complete the Out of the Shadows quest in ARC Raiders.
ARC Raiders Out of the Shadows quest walkthrough
The Out of the Shadows quest can be broken down into two major parts.
- Destroy a Rocketeer
- Obtain a Rocketeer Driver
As I said earlier, there’s no specific location for completing the quest. However, you’ll want to reach the Testing and Annex building. Take the main stairs and go up to the top floor. You’ll meet a few ARC enemies along the way, and the building also has a few Turrets to destroy. I have marked the location of the building on the map.
The top floor of the Testing and Annex building has a few unique advantages. You can find a Rocketeer in almost any spot on a map, but the location I have mentioned changes the fight in your favor. For starters, the top floor is like a bunker whose large parts are sealed off.
There are two openings on the corners, and it takes a lot of time for the Rocketeer to relocate. You can easily hit it from one side, force it to come towards you, and then go inside. If you’re in the sealed area, you’re safe from its rockets. Peek from the other corner opening, use the ledge, and hit the Rocketeer to repeat the process.
While the Rocketeer can fly inside the top floor, it refuses to do so. I am unsure of the reason, but glad it doesn’t. If you’re caught in the open parts of the top floor, you can still get hit with rockets. Hence, always be in the covered area (the rockets can’t break through the barriers even if the Rocketeer manages to lock onto you).
Taking down the Rocketeer
So we know how to stay safe from the Rocketeer. However, you’ll have to destroy it and successfully loot its Driver to complete the quest.
The easiest way to defeat a Rocketeer is to hit its thrusters. Use single-shot rifles (anything you will use for sniping) that use heavy rifle ammunition. Using automatic weapons doesn’t make much sense since you won’t be able to keep firing at a Rocketeer consistently. It’s better to use a rifle, but make sure to make every hit count.
Target the thrusters on one side. Once you destroy the thrusters on one side, the Rocketeer will be disbalanced. It will become harder for it to aim at you and fire its rockets. You can also throw an EMP grenade at it to disable its flight. It becomes easier to hit the Rocketeer, but be careful when you’re aiming the grenade.
Once the Rocketeer is destroyed, you have to loot the Driver and extract safely with the item. Speak with Shani, and you’ll complete Out of the Shadows.
