Is it time to make a sheep farm?
There’s a natural progression of resource gathering and refined material manufacturing in RuneScape Dragonwilds. When you first make stations like the spinning wheel and kiln, you’ll make coarse thread and bronze bars. As you progress, you’ll unlock more advanced materials like wool thread.
Wool thread is essential for building the loom and unlocking Padded Cloth. If you want to expand your gear arsenal, you’ll need to return to your spinning wheel and use various mid-game resources to upgrade your machines. Here’s how to make wool thread in RuneScape Dragonwilds.
How to make Wool Thread in RuneScape Dragonwilds
Creating wool thread requires getting your hands on fleece and soft animal fur. Using these two resources in your spinning wheel will grant you wool thread for building or crafting. You need three soft animal fur to make two threads, while one fleece transforms into one.
You can obtain fleece and soft animal fur from creatures in Fractured Plains and Stormtouched Highlands. In particular, sheep and ram drop fleece, while wolves give soft animal fur. Both frequently spawn throughout both regions, but watch out for Garou enemies that attack along the way.

Of these three options, sheep are the easiest to farm. Unlike wolves and rams, sheep are level-one creatures that behave much like deer. The only difference is that they don’t immediately run away when you come close to them, letting you shoot them or slash your daggers to get the job done.
Although wolves and rams are harder to defeat, they’re not too challenging either. Wolves have a delay before their attacks, letting you easily block or dodge them. They’re only difficult to handle if you have multiple around you, but a few well-timed blocks or magic casts will help you turn the tables in your favor.
Rams are even easier to deal with. They move slower than wolves, making them easy to shoot if you approach them from a distance. More often than not, you’ll find sheep near them too, giving you another opportunity to farm some fleece. Overall, soft animal fur and fleece aren’t the worst resources to gather once you learn where to get them.
How to use Wool Thread in RuneScape Dragonwilds
The most important use of wool thread initially is to build a loom. You’ll need the following resources to create this station:

All three materials require unique workstations. Ash planks come from sawmills, while bronze bars require building a furnace and smelling copper and tin inside. Fortunately, all the materials you need are within the regions between Temple Woods and Fractured Plains.
The loom leads you right into creating cloth. You’ll need two wool threads to create wool cloth, while three coarse threads give you one rough cloth. Both of these types are necessary to make Padded Cloth after acquiring your first loom upgrade.
