How to fix Slay the Spire 2 Text Issue (WWWW bug)

Slay the Spire 2‘s early access launch has been mostly smooth, but the WWWW bug has been creating problems for many.

As officially acknowledged by developers Mega Crit, it’s one of the two major bugs that have been detected. There will be a hotfix that will permanently solve the issue. However, if you don’t want to wait, there’s a temporary workaround for you to try.

While this method isn’t a guaranteed solution, it has helped me and many others in the community.

Slay the Spire 2 WWWW bug fix explained

The workaround for this bug appears to be pretty simple. You need to go to the game’s main settings and change the language to English. You need to do this irrespective of what the default language is. The bug seems to appear randomly, and the cause remains unknown.

However, shifting to the English language appears to fix the problem. That said, the problem did recur for me once again when I restarted my game. Once I changed to English, the matter of WWWWs stopped. As of writing, there hasn’t been a recurrence of this issue.

This isn’t a permanent solution, and it’s intended to work as a temporary fix until we can access the upcoming hotfix. The hotfix should be the permanent solution that will also allow you to play Slay the Spire 2 in a language of your preference (without being forced to use English to play).

The upcoming hotfix will also fix another bug that’s related to Timeline unlocks. This bug can happen when you end certain multiplayer runs. If you’re playing the single-player mode, this bug shouldn’t be a worry for you at all.
