While it’s not out yet, Nioh 3‘s extensive demo offers players a ton of content free of charge, allowing them to truly grasp what the game has to offer before committing to a full-price purchase.
And the demo is also a great opportunity to spot bugs, performance hitches, and other quirks that the devs could then iron out by the time the full release comes around.
One prominent bug, present since at least Rise of the Ronin, is an engine-level issue causing the game to suddenly start running in slow motion. If you’ve experienced it, here’s what you can do to fix it.
How to fix the Nioh 3 slow-motion bug
Though rather annoying, the Nioh 3 slow-motion bug is directly related to your in-game FPS. Dynamic resolution changes and fps targeting can cause the game to bug out and start playing in slow-motion as it attempts to correct for the fps target you had set.
To fix this, simply knock the game’s framerate cap to 60 and ensure your settings are at least capable of maintaining 45-60 fps at all times to prevent the slow-motion bug from reappearing. If your PC is more powerful and is hitting higher fps targets, then a 90 cap could also be helpful.
In my case, running a 4060 and a Ryzen 7 7735HS, I had to cap the game at 60 fps and turn off DLSS (enabling DLAA). I did notice the bug reappear a few times throughout my long gaming sessions, but it’d correct itself and be fine after a few seconds.
