If you’re looking for softwood in Hytale, but struggling to know what type of tree to chop down, you’re not alone. Much like both darkwood and lightwood in Hytale, softwood can be acquired from different types of tree, but there’s no indication as to which ones you need to look for.
Here’s where to find softwood in Hytale and what it can be used for.
Where to find softwood in Hytale
To cut to the chase, you want to find either beech trees or aspen trees, as both of these count as softwood. These can be found in Emerald Wilds, the first zone in the game, especially around the Drifting Plains and Seedling Woods.
Beech trees are very common, with dark brown trunks and vivid green leaves. Alternatively, aspen trees are more of an off-white color, with lighter brown specks and orange leaves. The image above shows both types of tree, and if you’re struggling to find either of them, just look for the orange-topped trees on your in-game map.
Take an axe, chop down the bottom block, and ta-da, the whole tree will come down.
Softwood is essential for upgrading the farmer’s workbench to tier two, not to mention the ability to turn the logs into planks via the builder’s workbench, followed by plenty of decorative blocks such as stairs, wardrobes, and doors.
