How to improve your UFL Season 25-26 team for free

UFL‘s new season went live on Sept. 12, and squad-building has undergone a massive change.

Gone is the old system of skins we used to get from packs. Instead, packs now provide players with cards of footballers that can be used to build their squad. Building a squad and making a team that can get you 15 Showdown wins is different.

This guide will help you master the basics and advanced concepts regarding squad building.

All currencies in UFL explained

The first task is to understand the different currencies in the game. I have also included the optimum ways of using them.

  • CP: The basic credits in the game. You can use them to buy base players, but the better way to spend them is on the CP packs that cost 49 million apiece.
  • LP: Currency used to unlock the premium version of the Season Pass, or on Packs. While you can use them to open packs, always opt for the premium version of the Season Pass first.
  • SP: Star Points unlock new rewards from the Season Pass, such as cosmetics, CP, LP, packs, or even legends like Del Piero.
  • Particles: Obtained from discarding Mastery players and older skins. Can be used to open Particle packs.

CP and SP are easier to earn, and you can get them from daily and weekly challenges. LPs can be obtained from packs, the Season Pass, and Showdown rewards.

How to get new players in UFL?

The biggest change of the new season is the removal of skins and the addition of player packs. Instead of slapping skins on cards, we can obtain different footballers (like Ultimate Team or Dream Team in eFootball).

  • Base cards: The basic version of cards that can be purchased directly or obtained from packs.
  • Mastery cards: Special versions that come in M1, M2, and M3 versions.
  • Promo cards: Special promo cards that can be obtained from specific packs. All promo cards have their own Masteries.

While Base cards get the task done, it’s much better to use Mastery items. Not only do these cards have better stats, but they also activate the newly-added link-up system. But more on that later, and let’s find out how you get new footballers.

  • Purchase from Transfers: This only applies to Base cards, where you can spend CP and get the footballers.
  • Open packs: You can use CP, LP, or spend SP to get packs from the Season Pass. This is the best way to get cards since you’ll be eligible to get M1, M2, and M3 (from specific packs), which have significantly better stats (also pay attention to their overall ratings). Promo cards are only available in their respective special packs.

How to improve your squad in UFL?

The task is to get players with excellent overall ratings and enhance your link-up abilities. I am leaving formation and tactics up to your preference. The main idea is to open as many packs as possible (more on that in the next section).

I will avoid using Legacy players for squad building once you have replacements for them. Every Legacy player will have skills and bonuses inherited from their older versions (along with boosted overall ratings).

However, the boosts are temporary and only applicable for specific attributes. If you check my Dimarco card in the screenshot, its defense is hardly that of an 89-rated LB, and the boosts will disappear eventually. This isn’t the case with in-season cards whose boosts are permanent. Legacy cards won’t be eligible for Link-Up effects, which is another key point to remember.

How to open more packs for free in UFL?

If you’re spending money in the game, you can open as many packs as you want. The key is to open packs for free consistently, and UFL provides plenty of ways to do so.

  • Discarding older skins will get you Particles that can be used to open Particle packs.
  • The Showdown mode isn’t easy to master, but you can get amazing packs to get as many wins as possible. I received three Showdown Pro packs from my 15 wins in the first weekend and other rewards. Even getting a single win will get you bonus packs to open.
  • Grind the Ranked mode as much as possible since moving up the divisions guarantees more packs.
  • Complete daily and weekly tasks. The first gives you CP (open CP packs) and SP, while the latter also adds bonus promo packs to the fray.
  • The Season Pass will be a fantastic source to spend your SP to unlock new packs. You should get enough LP to get the first premium upgrade for free (unless you’re an absolute beginner), which gives you the chance to get even more packs throughout the season. This is one of the best ways to find amazing packs without spending a dime.
  • Don’t keep too many players. Sell them for Particles and CP to use and open more packs to get better cards.

Doing these steps will ensure that you’re always finding packs to get more cards, and all you need to do is get lucky a few times.
