It’s always good when a game implements side quests, like the ones in Ghost of Yotei. It’s one of the reasons RPG open-world games feel like such a beautiful adventure for players who love exploration.
After traveling north from the early-game area, Atsu will come across the Huranui’s Rest Inn. There are a lot of things to do around the Inn, including a couple of interesting side quests. For this guide, here’s everything you need to know about the Marshland Homestead quest in Ghost of Yotei, including where to find the Gambler and how to rescue her.
Marshland Homestead Quest Guide In Ghost Of Yotei
After reaching the Huranui’s Rest Inn, initiate a conversation with the innkeeper inside to get the Marshland Homestead quest in Ghost of Yotei. You can find the Huranui’s Rest Inn on the Nupur River, between the Ohara Plains and the Moiwa Grotto areas. The innkeeper will mention that Chika, a regular customer of his, kept beating Saito’s men at the tables. So, they didn’t like that and took her away. He states that he can’t have his customers worried that winning is a death sentence. He then asks Atsu to find Chika and save her.
To find the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei, head east to the Tomamu Marshlands from the Huranui’s Rest Inn. Target the northern side of this area, as Chika is held there in an enemy fortress called Marshland Homestead. Just like any other outpost in the game, it’s heavily guarded by Saito’s men. So, be careful when rescuing the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei.
Additionally, guard dogs patrol the camp, making infiltration much more difficult. Make sure to take them down with Atsu’s bows before they alert the soldiers to her location. After that, Atsu can sneak inside looking to find and rescue the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei. On the other hand, you can always initiate a standoff and go all out on the entire outpost.
You can find the Gambler in the center of the Marshland Homestead’s outpost, guarded by one Brute soldier. You can only assassinate the Brute soldier if you have already upgraded the Brute Assassination perk, which allows Atsu to assassinate larger enemies.
After taking down the Brute soldier and rescuing the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei, new enemies will spawn and surround Atsu and Chika. You must fight them together and free the fortress from Saito’s men. After that, travel back to the Huranui’s Rest Inn and interact with the innkeeper, who will reward Atsu with 450 coins for her troubles rescuing the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei.
