How to Shoot While Driving in Death Stranding 2

How to Shoot While Driving in Death Stranding 2

Vehicles play a large part in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, as the map is even bigger than the first game. While there is more land to traverse, getting around is a good bit easier, and vehicles make it all the easier, making them a go-to option for most deliveries.

While on any delivery, Sam runs the risk of crossing paths with bandits or BTs, both of which can easily get the drop on him or knock you off a vehicle while riding it. Death Stranding 2 now gives players the ability to shoot or throw grenades while driving, helping to give you the edge against any enemy. Here’s how to do so.

How to Fight While Driving in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

Sam isn’t limited to just shooting while driving, as he can also throw grenades, which are ideal for dealing with BTs. While in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, hold right on the d-pad to open up the tool wheel. From here, you can equip either a gun or a grenade as usual, switching between them by opening up the tool wheel again and selecting something different.

While driving, shooting functions mostly the same, with the only major limitation being that you can only aim 180 degrees in front of Sam. Aside from aiming being a bit more difficult, the major issue with shooting while driving is controlling both. Acceleration for your vehicle is controlled with R1 while shooting is done with R2, so you’ll either need to coast while shooting or adjust your grip to hold both at once.

While on a vehicle, you do run the risk of getting hit by an enemy and being knocked off. This can lead to your cargo spilling out onto the ground, so you can’t just simply run away. If you keep moving fast enough, most human enemies will have a very hard time hitting you, and as long as you don’t drive back into their range, you’ll usually have the upper hand in most fights and won’t have to worry about stolen cargo. Some vehicles move faster than basic BTs, so driving through them at full speed while fighting can also help limit your risk of a voidout.

While driving, you can still pick up cargo and Chiral Crystals, so you won’t need to get out of your vehicle after or during combat if you don’t want to.

Ideal weapons for shooting while driving include:

  • Assault Rifles
  • Machine Guns
  • Machine Pistols
  • Rocket Launchers
