In celebration of the A Minecraft Movie, Mojang Studios has kicked off an exciting event filled with challenges and rewards. Complete tasks to unlock the exclusive Yearn Cape, allowing you to flaunt your Overworld pride. Find out how to get this legendary cape in Minecraft.

How to get Yearn Cape in Minecraft Movie Live Event

Earn the Yearn Cape (also known as “Movie Cape”) by completing five Live Event quests and collecting 60 Diamonds by April 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET/9 p.m. GMT. Bedrock users will see a hub for this event in the main menu, where you can jump right into the server. If you’re a Java edition user, you’ll have to use the Bedrock version to access it and then transfer the reward to your account afterward. Here’s a quick overview of all Minecraft Movie Live Event quests to help you unlock the Yearn Cape:

• Defend the Village
• Ghasts Incoming
• Farm Mobs, not Crops
• Protect the Cart
• Low on Iron
• Mine Diamonds

You’ll be transported to Midport Village, which plays a significant part in the A Minecraft Movie. Notable characters from the film will help you with challenges, including the legendary Steve. The Defend the Village quest is the only active mission available, but the rest will unlock every other day. Let’s break down each quest in detail to give you a better idea of what to expect.

How to complete Defend the Village quest

• Task 1: Deliver six Wilderness Carts
• Task 2: Retrieve 100 ore in the Mines
• Task 3: Defend the Outer Walls in five waves
• Rewards:
  • Boots of Swiftness
  • 500 gems
  • 1,000 EXP

Open your map to discover the Wilderness, Mines, and the Outer Walls. You’ll have to complete the corresponding tasks in each area, requiring you to play standard Minecraft activities like mining and mob fights. Once you’ve conquered them all, you’ll earn the Boots of Swiftness via the Dressing Room.

How to complete Ghasts Incoming quest

• Task: Kill 20 Ghasts at the Outer Walls
• Rewards:
  • Battle Cry emote
  • 500 gems
  • 1,000 EXP

Transport to the Outer Walls to go against the deadly Ghasts. Approach the gate and whip out your bow and arrow to kill anything that comes out of the portals. You’ll likely encounter Piglins initially, but the Ghasts should eventually appear. Shoot them with enough arrows until you have gotten rid of 20 Ghasts.

How to complete Farm Mobs, not Crops quest

• Task: Kill 200 enemies
• Rewards:
  • Mushroom Hat
  • 500 gems
  • 1,000 EXP

The Farm Mobs, not Crops quest, works with any location with enemies inside. Use your bow and arrow or sword to eliminate 200 mobs. It’ll undoubtedly take some time, but it’ll all be worth it once you get the Yearn Cape and the Mushroom Hat from the Dressing Room.

How to complete Protect the Cart quest

• Task: Deliver Carts with 40 percent health in the Wilderness
• Rewards:
  • Kadoosh! Emote
  • 500 gems
  • 1,000 EXP

Enter the Wilderness to locate the Payload Cart. Numerous enemies will try to attack it, and you’ll have to eliminate them with your sword or bow and arrow. Fortunately, other players will help you out here, where you can cover all sides of the Payload. Keep the Cart at 40 percent health, or you’ll lose out on progress for this objective.

How to complete Low on Iron quest

• Task: Clear five waves with at least two Iron Golems alive in the Outer Walls
• Rewards:
  • Jet Pack
  • 500 gems
  • 1,000 EXP

While you’re defending the Outer Walls, you’ll see a few Iron Golems on the ground. The Piglins will try to take them down, and it’s best to use your bow and arrow to clear hordes of them (swords won’t do much in this minigame). You only need two Iron Golems alive, so don’t worry too much if enemies kill off one or more.

How to complete Mine Diamonds quest

• Task 1: Retrieve 60 Diamonds
• Task 2: Complete five quests
• Rewards:
  • Yearn Cape
  • 500 gems
  • 1,000 EXP

Complete at least five Minecraft Movie Live Event quests to get closer to the Yearn Cape. You’ll also have to mine 60 Diamonds from the Mines, using your reliable pickaxe. After you’ve accomplished both objectives, check your Dressing Room to equip your new cape.
