Not too long after the soft launch of Skate, the soon-to-be-released Season 1 has finally dropped. It patches some frustrating issues for players, improves mechanics like character customization, makes visuals more engaging, and even introduces a Skate Pass.
Thankfully, the pass isn’t entirely premium. Even free-to-play skaters can unlock great rewards like cosmetics, emotes, and skateboard skins by spending Tix, the pass currency you can earn by finishing special tasks. One of these challenges you’ll come across is performing a Varial Kickflip. For those finding it difficult to pull off, here’s how to land Varial Kickflip easily in Skate 4.
How to Varial Kickflip in Skate 4
Varial Kickflip is one of the trickier Ollie maneuvers in Skate that, of course, takes some practice to master. You’ve got to make your skateboard spin horizontally, flip the board in the air, and land right back on it.
Like most flip tricks, you’ll only need the right stick on your controller to nail it. That means no button-mashing or stressing over perfect timing like with more advanced tricks, such as Benihana.
To do a Varial Kickflip trick in Skate 4, start from the middle and push your right stick down to the bottom-left, then flick it diagonally up toward the top-right, just like shown in the image above.
Whether you’re using an Xbox or PlayStation controller, the motion stays the same as long as you have Goofy stance turned on in your stance preferences. If you’re using Regular stance, you’ll need to do the same motion but in the opposite direction: push the stick down to the bottom-right and then flick it diagonally up toward the top-left.
So, to sum up, here are the right stick inputs for a Varial Kickflip on both stances:
- Goofy stance: move the stick from bottom-left to top-right.
- Regular stance: move the stick from bottom-right to top-left.
Once you’ve landed it, just repeat the trick four more times to complete the Trick of the Day – Varial Kickflip Skate Pass task and earn 40 Tix. You can then use these tickets to unlock pass shop pages and grab your favorite items. On top of that, you’ll also get 150 Rip Chips, which can be exchanged for reward boxes.
