If you think Crimson Desert’s future patches potentially taking seven working days to install isn’t a worthy sacrifice for some extra sexy towers, we’re gonna have a problem

If you’ve been demanding more red pudding, then I bring good news. Crimson Desert developers Pearl Abyss have revealed a bunch of additions and changes they plan to make going forwards, as part of their continued efforts to sand off bits of their big creation which folks haven’t vibed with. Boss rematches, resetting enemy camps, and new difficulty options are the headliners. The game’s towers are also getting a glow up.

“Today, we’re here to share a preview of some of the new features and content currently in development, shaped by your feedback, including a variety of content for those looking for more ways to enjoy the game and those who want to further challenge themselves,” the studio wrote in a dev update running down their plans. “Our goal is to roll these updates out gradually from April through June.”

So, if you’ve ended up 100 hours deep and started running out of things to kill, you’ll soon be able to battle bosses as many times as you like and re-capture enemy camps you’ve previously cleared from reinforcements which have rocked up. “Peace is fleeting, and darkness does not retreat so easily,” Pearl Abyss wrote of their forever war. The option to pick between easy, normal, and hard difficulties is also on the way.

Beyond that, the game’s two playable characters beyond the initial beardyman – Damiane and Oongka – will be getting new skills as forcefully powerful as Kliff’s Force Palm and Axiom Force, to encourage you not to just play as the initial beardyman. Hiding stowed weapons, new threads to wear and a bunch of new storage options are all also on the docket, plus more mounts, pets and armour for said mounts.

Now, I can finally talk about the bit of the update that’s grabbed my attention. “We are working on enhancing the realism of distant backgrounds so you can enjoy Pywel’s landscapes in greater depth,” Pearl Abyss wrote. “Please note that the patch size may be somewhat larger due to improvements to how distant scenery changes and the quality of rendering under different conditions. Take a look at the image below for a preview of how Pywel will look after the update.” Before you ask, yes, one of the before/after videos they’ve included in the post features a distant tower being made extra sexy.

As a documented lover of red pudding’s abundance of looming obelisks, I’m over the moon about this. Does the note about patches potentially getting larger in terms of flie size as a result concern me, given how big the base game is already in that regard? No, because even if they end up taking weeks to install, it’ll be worth it.

Rounding out this dev update are some extra control input tweaking options and font legibility improvements.

If you missed all of the changes Pearl Abyss made in the latest red pudding update, here’s Oisin’s rundown of it.
