“Is It Apathy, or Did J.O.E.L Set Us Up?” Helldivers 2 Players Try to Find the Culprit for the Mess on the Illuminate Front

“Is It Apathy, or Did J.O.E.L Set Us Up?” Helldivers 2 Players Try to Find the Culprit for the Mess on the Illuminate Front

It’s been an eventful week for Helldivers. They managed to get the Gas Mines and save the feeble young adults for the previous Major Order. However, they aren’t doing that well in the current MO. Saving Moradesh is off the table, and the Helldivers 2 community can’t help but wonder if it is because of the apathy they hold towards fighting the Illuminate, or did the Game Master only give them an illusion of a choice.

Some Helldivers 2 Players Just Don’t Like Fighting the Illuminate

As you know, the current Major Order gave the players two choices. They could either fend off a bunch of the Squid attacks, which would stop the Meridian Singularity from destroying Moradesh, or defend Claorell, which would protect the Deep Mantle Forge Complex.

Unfortunately, even though the players seem to have tried their best to defend both fronts, they didn’t succeed. The battle for Moradesh was lost in the first 48 hours. So, the only thing left to do is sit and watch as the timer goes down and the Meridian Singularity destroys another planet.

This doesn’t sit well with some Helldivers. When the Singularity destroyed Angel’s Venture, the Majority of players swore not to let this happen again. It’s been around three weeks, and the community is back in the same situation.

So, as you may have expected, there’s been quite an uproar, as the players who tried their best to save Moradesh, mourn the planet and blame this loss on the apathetic players. Now, there is some truth to their claims. The Squids have been quite popular for a while, but players grew tired of fighting the same units and constantly playing defense.

Hitman-Pred explained: “Most people get 1 or 2 hours to play a day, of course they are going to choose what’s more fun to them. And if I’m being honest, bugs and bots ARE way more fun than the Illuminate at the moment”. So, for the majority of players, it’s about the lack of fun.

Did J.O.E.L Help the Squids Progress?

Still, even though there is some apathy toward fighting the Illuminate, some Helldivers 2 players claim this loss was scripted. We can’t say whether J.O.E.L was just salty because of the events of the previous week, or it was planned for some time, but it’s possible the Game Master tipped the scales.

MalkavAmonra noted: “My personal guess? It’s just planned story development. Resistance on all of these planets has been absolutely nuts. Even if we had 100% of the player base focusing on just the MOs, I don’t think we’d have done much better”.

Our guess is that J.O.E.L finally managed to make Helldivers choose, as he previously failed. It was probably the combination of J.O.E.L’s manipulation and the players’ unwillingness to fight the Squids. Hopefully, we’ll all learn from this. Also, surprisingly enough, Helldivers still have a chance to liberate Claorell. So, we’ll be diving there, will you join us? For Liberty and Super Earth.
