My Winter Car has been a big hit in the festive season as Amistech Games’ latest venture has peaked over 20,000 players on Steam alone.
Successor to My Summer Car, My Winter Car is currently available on early access. While more content is expected down the line, there’s already a fair bit of content available for fans. However, you can only enjoy the game if you’re on a PC.
Will My Winter Car release on consoles
There’s always a chance for games to release on consoles when their early access phase is over. This pattern has been followed by indie games and AAA titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 in the past. However, it’s doubtful that My Winter Car will get a console release in the future.
This is primarily due to the size and scale of operations of Amistech Games. My Summer Car, the predecessor, got its full release in January of last year. It’s about to complete its first full year out of early access, and there is no news of a console launch. I am pretty sure that it will only remain available on PC via Steam.
Hence, it won’t be wrong to claim at this point that My Winter Car will also follow the same suit. We have seen other recent indie sensations like Megabonk, PEAK, and Schedule 1 being restricted to PC, and there is no news about their potential console launch.
Moreover, developing a console port also requires extra resources and a lot of capital. My Winter Car already appears to be a commercial success, given its player count and potential cost of development. It’s possible that Amistech Games could eventually develop a console port, but I won’t bet on it.
If you’re on PC, however, you can jump in right now and have fun building your project car while picking from over 200 module parts. New content is also expected to arrive over the next few months as the game continues to grow in early access.
