Is That a Decoy?! Latest Leaks Show Off a “Fake” Xenobite in Helldivers 2

Is there a better way to start a week than with some hype for the future? Mondays may be slow, but data miners know exactly what the community needs for a little pick-me-up. So, what have they found in the game files? Well, the latest Helldivers 2 leaks offer a glimpse at a peculiar unit, a “fake” Xenobite.

What Is a “Fake” Xenobite?

One of the most prolific HD2 data miners, IronS1ghts, recently teased that it would be a great summer for all the fans of the game. This leaker stayed true to their words and shared a new Illuminate unit they discovered. It’s a Xenobite, but it seems that it’s just a decoy!

The OP noted: “(Leak) ‘Fake’ Xenobite Variant. This is a strange variant that was added with Omens of Tyranny. This Xenobite has 10 HP, and glitches out when you shoot it, disappearing. It spawns in a beam that shoots down from the sky. To my knowledge, it cannot attack you, it only walks around and alerts others to you”.

As always, IronS1ghts attached some images to solidify their claims. The image on the left shows the Xenobite. The image on the right shows how this unit spawns, by literally shooting down from the sky. Of course, as always, there’s no proof that this unit would go live in the game. However, if it does, it could bring an interesting dynamic.

The Leaks of This Peculiar “Fake” Variant Intrigue the Helldivers 2 Community

All new content is quite exciting! Especially if it might add something different to the gameplay. So, the Helldivers 2 community loved the leaks of the “fake” Xenobite. Naturally, the players gladly shared their impressions.

One player, cameron morley, noted: “I think an enemy that can use decoys is a great idea tbh we don’t have any enemy in game that does this so would be cool”. Hacker_LYX added: “Maybe how they’ll handle the confusion mechanic. By showing a bunch of decoys, instead of messing with your controls”.

That seems to be the popular theory, and some players even stated they had seen these decoys before. GoreTiger recalled: “Swear I’ve encountered these a few times before. I always figured the game had just despawned him or something when I shot. Wonder if this is some upcoming mind control mechanic where they can make us hallucinate enemies”.

What do you think? Of course, we’ll have to wait for some official info from the devs! In the meantime, the Jump Pack Hulks are waiting for us! Let’s complete the current Major Order together, in style! For Liberty and Super Earth.
