Where Winds Meet is full of gameplay features, and this includes a twist on the usual social systems players can find in other online games. There are plenty of roleplaying features in place, especially for the game’s Online Mode, and if you’re looking for romance, you may or may not be disappointed. Romance does exist as a feature in Where Winds Meet, but it might not be what players expect it to be.
All Free Outfits & How To Get Them In Where Winds Meet
Unlock free outfits and hairstyles by completing quests and playing online in Where Winds Meet.
Does Where Winds Meet Have Romance?
Not exactly. Unlike some other RPGs, players can’t form any sort of romantic relationships with any of the game’s NPCs here. However, players can instead choose to marry other players through the in-game marriage system, but before we get to that, we need to go over how friendship works first.
Being friends with other players in Where Winds Meet comes with more than just social benefits that make playing together more convenient. Players have an Intimacy stat with people on their friends list, and the higher their Intimacy with someone is, the more features they’ll unlock. Such features include:
- The ability to use co-op emotes
- Borrow friends’ outfits
- Join friend sessions/teams without confirmation
- Exclusive friend badges
- Bonus Adventure Slips when playing together
You can spend Adventure Slips at the shop inside the Social menu. Here, you can buy items like cosmetics, titles, furniture, decorations, and more. To get more Adventure Slips, keep playing co-op with friends.
Intimacy points are earned by playing with your friends in co-op, whether it’s fighting the game’s bosses, exploring the land, or just hanging out and chatting somewhere nice.
How to Marry Other Players in Where Winds Meet
First, you’ll need to enter Online Mode and visit Shi Yimo, an NPC by the big tree at Crimson Cliff, which is southwest of the General’s Shrine at Qinghe. She’s the one responsible for formalizing marriage between two players, but before you can tie the know with someone else in Where Winds Meet, the two of you need to reach the Companions Intimacy tier.
After meeting the requirements, form a party with your partner, then speak with Shi Yimo. Select the Form a Partnership option. She’ll bless the both of you, allowing you both to enjoy the benefits of being a married couple in the game. If you join the Velvet Shade sect in Where Winds Meet (also called the Floral Reverie sect), you’ll be able to marry multiple people.
You can marry whoever you want regardless of their gender.
If you don’t have a potential marriage partner yet, you can use the Seeking Fate feature from Shi Yimo to match you with others who are looking for an in-game partnership. Just type in a message in the envelope that appears, then go to the Shi Yimo’s Found Fate screen to see if anyone is willing to take up your offer. Then, team up with your new-found partner, and form a partnership with them.
There doesn’t seem to be any major benefits to marrying someone apart from the social part of it. You and your partner will still be able to gain Adventure Slips when playing together, and you can join other social groups like Sworn Cohorts too. When you marry someone, you’ll at least be sure that you have somebody to play co-op with, and you’ll both be able to earn Adventure Slips to buy some of the free outfits in Where Winds Meet.
