It’s been almost a month since the Heart of Democracy update dropped and the Battle for Super Earth began. Who would have guessed, it feels like it was just yesterday that we fought on the streets of Super Earth. It turns out that the spotlight has been on the Illuminate for quite a while! With a couple of bot and bug MOs sprinkled in. Well, the botdivers have finally grown tired of acting as so-called MOdivers, and they are asking Arrowhead to come up with an Automaton special event for all the bot-loving (or rather bot-hating) Helldivers 2 players.
According to Botdivers, the Automaton Front Needs Some Love
Ever since the Automatons joined the Second Galactic War, the playerbase has kind of divided into bugdivers and botdivers. Even with the arrival of the third faction, the first two are still more “popular”.
As with any organized group, there are some stereotypes and age-old arguments between the bugdivers and the botdivers. Historically speaking, the biggest problem has been the (sometimes) fact that the bugdivers exclusively fought on the bug front, while the botdivers helped out on both (or later all three) fronts when needed.
Funnily enough, even during the Battle for Super Earth, devoted bugdivers fought on the bug front rather than on Super Earth. Now, don’t get us wrong – everyone should play this game however they want. Our point is that the bug front has received more attention from the devs, thus making it more appealing than the biggest battle Helldivers 2 has seen so far.
Naturally, the majority of botdivers are now asking for the bot front to receive the same amount of love that the devs have put into the bug front, and, more recently, the Illuminate front. And what better way to do that than to organize a special event on the bot front?
A Special Event Could Unite All Helldivers 2 Players on the Automaton Front
Let’s face it, Helldivers love special events. Give them the Creek, Meridia, or even Calypso, and they are happy. Still, many Helldivers 2 players, especially the botdivers, have noticed that it’s been a while since a big Automaton event. The last one was probably for the anniversary of the Creek in April, right? Well, the botdivers are asking for some changes!
Sharfik_Dron noted: “I think it is time for the Automaton fleet to arrive”. This OP elaborated: “They arrived by ships we saw on the Escalation of Freedom art, and never again. We already have playground cannons, this can be used as an objective on automaton missions in cities, to take down this ship”.
Henry779 reminded the community: “It seemed like their big event was going to be something related to ‘Vessel 00, Nucleus and the Final Collective’ and the terraforming of Cyberstan, but they haven’t touched on that plot again in a year”.
Dark_Soul_943 stated: “Honestly, I feel like bots are the most narratively neglected faction. Yes, they got the incineration corps and the jet brigade, but story wise they’ve not really done much but attack the occasional planet and get new enemy types. We didn’t even get a story explanation as to why the hyperlanes to cyberstan got deleted/blocked”.
So, should we hope for a new Automaton storyline? Well, with the summer starting and the season of vacations right around the corner, we wouldn’t hold our breath.
