It’s Time To Admit Kishimoto Failed His Original Main Character In Boruto

This article contains spoilers from the Naruto series.

The Boruto series has been ongoing for many years now, and fans know very well that this story is centered around the son of the Seventh Hokage, Boruto Uzumaki. This sequel series has introduced the fans to many new interesting concepts, such as ninja technology, as well as powerful enemies, such as the Otsutsuki. More recently, even the Shinju have made their appearance in this story.

It’s Time To Welcome Boruto’s New Legendary Ninja Even Stronger Than Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto is strong, but this ninja from Boruto has already surpassed him.

The Boruto series has been interesting in many ways, and fans have enjoyed many aspects of it over the years. But, it absolutely cannot be dismissed that the Boruto series has also done a lot of harm to the already established Naruto franchise. Many characters have had their legacy ruined in the Boruto series, and none more so than the main character of the original story, who Kishimoto ended up failing in the sequel that is Naruto Uzumaki.

While most fans wanted a proper representation of Naruto’s ideals as well as his strength in the Boruto series, the story has been nothing short of disappointing for his fans overall. Things keep on going from bad to worse for him.

  • He Became The Hokage After Kakashi Hatake

Naruto Uzumaki is one of the most iconic anime characters of all time who has inspired millions of people all over the world. Countless have grown up watching him, which is why they hold on to him as dearly as they do and love him fiercely. Naruto Uzumaki is quite easily the best-written character in the entirety of the Naruto franchise and few can hold a candle to him in that regard. That is precisely why fans wanted his representation to be great in the Boruto series. In fact, most fans would admit that it would be even better if Naruto did not exist in the Boruto series, because there would be nothing to worry about. Knowing that he was going to be in this particular sequel, fans simply wanted his character to be written consistently, and for his legacy to be respected.

I will become the greatest Hokage this village has ever known. That’s my dream! โ€” Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto started off his journey as a rather disliked child who was cast aside by the village. He had no one to take care of him, and for the vast majority of the story, he was alone. This is precisely why it was easy for fans to sympathize with him. Over the years, Naruto made it his goal to earn the acknowledgement of everyone, and he rose to the top of the world. Not only did Naruto become the hero of the Hidden Leaf, but he also saved the world in the Fourth Great Ninja War, rising to the very pinnacle of strength in the process.

Naruto became the strongest shinobi of all time, and on top of this, he also went on to become an icon both in the world of ninja as well as among the fans. His dream of becoming the Hokage was accomplished at the end of the series, and it was truly beautiful for the fans to see it become a reality. Unfortunately, the Boruto series has done a great disservice to him.

  • The Hokage isn’t respected as it used to be
  • The dream keeps Naruto locked up

While fans were initially excited to see Naruto Uzumaki as the Hokage in Boruto, the fact is that the representation of the Hokage itself is not great in the series, to begin with. Naruto Uzumaki’s dream was to be the Hokage, protect his village, and earn the acknowledgement of people around him. He already accomplished that in the original series. In the sequel, fans often get to see Naruto being kept busy with rather insignificant things to keep him from affecting the plot directly. In fact, Naruto spent the vast majority of the day dealing with various paperwork and diplomatic issues. Of course, that is not to say that a Hokage must not deal with diplomatic issues or that they should not look at other interesting affairs.

However, that is all that Naruto truly does, and this is something that Kishimoto and Ikemoto invented to keep him out of the main plotline in the Boruto series.

Being the Hokage means that the whole village is my family now. Every single one of them is mine to protect. โ€” Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto being the Hokage means that he hardly ever gets to engage the real threats in battle, and that is the exact opposite of what Naruto himself would want to do. Fans know him to be the kind of character who would go headfirst into danger. Naruto himself said in the Fourth Great Ninja War that he is the person who walks ahead of all his comrades because he doesn’t want to see any of them fall. According to Naruto, that was the true essence of a Hokage. Yet in the Boruto series, he often lets others walk in front of him, and all of them end up falling one after the other.

Being the Hokage certainly means that Naruto is respected as the strongest in the village as well as the one with the most authority. That said, it also takes away the qualities that make Naruto the ninja that fans know him to be. That is precisely why he would be better off without it. In this way, Kishimoto has done a great disservice to Naruto by making him the Hokage and stripping away his best qualities that fans love him for.

  • The Boruto Series Has Taken Naruto’s Powers Forever
  • Naruto Was Sealed Away In Boruto

Kishimoto not only failed Naruto by using the Hokage position to keep him busy with paperwork, but an even bigger crime was to take away from Naruto all the powers that he worked incredibly hard to achieve over the years. Naruto was born with absolutely nothing, and on top of that, he was actually greatly burdened with the power of Kurama. This beast lived inside of him and wanted to kill him, harming him at every possible opportunity, and even harming his loved ones around him. Yet, by the end of the series, Naruto worked so incredibly hard that he even won over this ball of hatred that existed inside him. This is precisely why Naruto truly deserved the power of Kurama by his side.

After 15 Years, Boruto Has Officially Confirmed The Return Of The Uzumaki Clan

After 15 Years, Boruto Has Officially Confirmed The Return Of The Uzumaki Clan

The Uzumaki clan was almost destroyed. However, it’s now making a huge return in Boruto.

In Boruto, this power was stripped from Naruto. At the same time, all the Six Paths Powers that he received at the end of the series were also taken away, and, of course, his connection with the other Tailed Beasts that essentially symbolized Naruto being the Child of Prophecy was also shattered. Everything that was established in the original series was destroyed in the Boruto series for Naruto, and it’s quite clear to see that this is not the character that fans fell in love with.

Kishimoto Needs To Redeem Naruto Uzumaki Before Boruto’s End

Kishimoto Needs To Redeem Naruto Uzumaki Before Boruto's End

As is quite clear, Kishimoto and Ikemoto need to redeem themselves by fixing the character of Naruto Uzumaki to the best they can. Unfortunately, at this point, the damage has already been done, and nothing can reverse that. But, at the very least, they can give him a proper send-off by having him come back and integrating him into the plot in efficient ways. At this point, Naruto fans can only hope for Boruto to get a proper conclusion, with Naruto being a true representation of what he is supposed to be and getting a happy ending once again.
