KPop Demon Hunters: The Best Stage Outfits

KPop Demon Hunters: The Best Stage Outfits

Summary

  • KPop Demon Hunters nails K-Pop fashion with tailored, striking stage outfits for each character.
  • Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” looks and choreography signify a rise to the top in the film.
  • Huntrix’s outfits, like in “Golden” and “What It Sounds Like,” reflect emotional arcs and togetherness.

In the world of K-Pop, fashion can be just as important as the music. Fans follow their favorite artists and bands not just for their music, but for the people themselves. Their personalities, their looks, their attitudes; the works. To capture K-Pop properly, the creators behind KPop Demon Hunters needed to keep that in mind, and through all the love, care, and attention poured into the movie, they nailed it.

KPop Demon Hunters: 8 Things It Does Better Than The Spider-Verse Movies

KPop Demon Hunters is the latest film from Sony Pictures Animation, but how does it compare to the studio’s other hits, like the Spider-verse movies?

Whether it be Huntrix’s extravagant costumes or the Saja Boys’ deceptively simple casual wear, these K-Pop kings and queens perfectly exemplify who they are as characters with a simple shirt tuck or lack thereof. When the outfits are as varied as the spectacular musical sequences, it wasn’t easy to decide what are the best stage outfits in KPop Demon Hunters.

Saja Boys (Play Games With Us)

Going GooGoo

Having worn these just at the game show, Play Games With Us, it’s hard to consider these genuine stage outfits, but it felt important to mention them. Color coordination goes a long way in making these boys seem as unassuming and approachable as possible, and they absolutely pull it off.

Hiding their demonic nature under a layer of pink and a bib during the Spicy Challenge creates the perfect illusion for them to steal the hearts of fans around the nation. As with every other outfit in the film, each individual member of the Saja Boys’ outfits is tailored specifically to them, most specifically with Abby’s open abs, really hammering in his namesake in a fun way.

Huntrix (Battle Outfits)

Here To Slay

Another set of outfits that don’t come from performances, but (inadvertently) on Play Games With Us. Huntrix’s Battle Outfits have that perfect combination of pop star pizazz and battle-readiness. Their glowing purple weapons complement their black leather perfectly, creating a fierce look.

It can’t be ranked too high up, as it wasn’t a performance outfit, and the “stage” it was presented on was a total failure for the girls, their leather squeaking its way into the game show’s audience’s nightmares for years to come, but the striking visual is undeniable, and could easily be used during a true performance.

Saja Boys (Soda Pop)

Deceptively Delightful

The Saja Boys’ big debut for both real and in-film audiences, their “Soda Pop” single catapulted them to the top of the charts. The pastel coloration emphasizes the carbonated charm of their catchy debut single and instantly endears everyone to them. The outfits are so successful, even Zoey can’t help but be charmed.

Manhwa are a nice change of pace for fans of traditional anime and manga. Here are some of the best series to start with.

Their hairstyles go a long way to complement this look. Jinu’s black contrasts with the soft colors of his tops, Romance’s pink with the yellow. Baby’s blue with the pink, and the sliver of blue underneath. They all come together to create a deeply appealing color scheme. With such a soft look, any demonic accusations would surely fall by the wayside, which is exactly the point.

4

Huntrix (Golden)

Shining Bright

Huntrix’s “Golden” outfits are total treasures. Zoey and Mira wearing white jackets and black tops to back up Rumi’s inverse coloring makes for a perfect trio. They compare and contrast in just the right ways, mirroring the stars themselves. Without one of them, they lose the symmetry, but when they’re together, they’re unstoppable.

This makes their demonic-induced breakup towards the climax of the film all the more tragic, as they’re wearing these outfits that express their togetherness at the time. It adds to the emotional weight of the scene so subtly, yet any audience member with a heart can feel it. That just makes their reunion all the more satisfying.

3

Huntrix (How It’s Done)

Opening With A Bang

These are the very first outfits viewers see Huntrix in, and they make a perfect first impression. Their “How It’s Done” outfits exude confidence and express who they are expertly. Mira’s gemmed gloves, Zoey’s flashy sneakers, and Rumi’s regal jacket all give them individually striking looks that still complement each other.

As an introduction to these characters, it’s pitch-perfect. The viewer gets a sense of what they’re all about at a single glance, something that’s prevalent throughout the entire film. The simplest shoulder pauldron or baggy pants tells the audience all they need to know.

2

Huntrix (What It Sounds Like)

Rising Up

A redux of the girls’ “Golden” outfits, “What It Sounds Like” takes them to the next level. In their most triumphant moment, Huntrix’s uniforms shine bright, showing just how far they’ve come. Zoey and Mira’s powerful new shoulder pauldrons give the same contrast as the inverse colors from their “Golden” outfits in a bold new way.

By removing her jacket and fully embracing her demon patterns, Rumi has finally pushed beyond her past, not afraid to show her true self to everyone. It’s an incredibly clear visual representation of everything that she’s gone through, and having her two best friends standing alongside her is the sweet final note.

1

Saja Boys (Your Idol)

Sinfully Sinister

Easily, the outfits that have ingrained themselves most into the viewers’ brains are the Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” outfits. Arriving at Huntrix’s lowest point, these demons know how to rub salt in the wound. Inspired by the Korean mythological figure, the jeoseung-saja, these outfits and the choreography as a whole usher their fans into the new age of demons.
