The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has received a new update for August 2025. The Last of Us Part 2 was a massive critical and commercial success on the PS4 in 2020, so it’s no surprise that Naughty Dog decided to remaster it for the PS5. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered features the acclaimed original game, but with better graphics and performance, along with fresh content like the No Return roguelike mode.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has received occasional updates, with the biggest coming just recently. Last month, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered received a substantial update that made it possible to play through the game’s story in chronological order, as opposed to half the game being dedicated to Ellie and the other half being dedicated to Abby. Now yet another update has been released for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and while it may not be an overly exciting one, it will likely still be appreciated by fans.
The new update for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is mainly focused on fixing issues with the game. For example, a bug that showed Ellie with multiple braces when bonus skins are equipped has been fixed, as well as a problem in Chronological mode where some audio would be missing in the chapter Ground Zero. Another issue with Chronological mode, where subtitles would not appear during certain cutscenes, has also been fixed. Finally, the new Last of Us Part 2 Remastered update has also fixed a rare issue where Ellie would suddenly be missing her pistol at the end of the Hillcrest chapter.
It’s possible that there will be more Last of Us Part 2 Remastered updates if more issues are found in the game, but otherwise, fans can expect Naughty Dog to largely move away from the project. Right now, Naughty Dog is busy developing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a brand-new sci-fi action-adventure IP that looks like it will be quite different from the grittiness of the Last of Us games.
But even though Naughty Dog is working on a new IP, that doesn’t mean the company is done with The Last of Us franchise. Naughty Dog is making another game alongside Intergalactic, with rumors suggesting that the other game is potentially The Last of Us 3. Whether there’s any truth to those rumors remains to be seen, but fans of the franchise will want to keep an eye out just in case.
