Lies of P Headlines August PS Plus Free Games, But Don’t Sleep on Another Hit Title

Sony has announced its impressive lineup of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games arriving in August 2025, and despite Lies of P being the eye-catching headliner, there’s another title included in the list that’s not to be slept on: DayZ. PS Plus is a subscription service with three tiers on offer: Premium, Extra, and Essential. However, players can access the free Monthly Games through any tier, as long as a membership is present, and DayZ is a fantastic title to jump into for free.

Released in 2018 on PC and in 2019 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, DayZ is an online multiplayer survival game by Bohemia Interactive, set in the fictional post-Soviet Republic of Chernarus where a mysterious plague has turned civilizations into infected. DayZ is considered to be one of the best horror games that began as a mod, expanding from its original Arma 2 mod. As a survivor, the player’s main goals are to scavenge for food, weapons, and medicine, thwart infected, and work with other players to survive the lethal outbreak.

DayZ DLC Is Being Review Bombed

The recently released Frostline expansion for Bohemia Interactive’s post-apocalyptic survival game DayZ is being review bombed.

Sony confirmed the three titles that were up for grabs in August’s PS Plus Monthly Games were Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2, and all three games will be available to play on August 5. Joining the Monthly Games list, subscribers also have a handful of PS Plus titles to play for free before August 1, including the likes of Jak 3, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Syphon Filter.

  • Lies of P
  • DayZ
  • My Hero One’s Justice 2

Social media users on Twitter were advocating DayZ’s gameplay, saying the title is definitely worth a download, but don’t expect the difficulty to be a walk in the park. Another user noted that they had DayZ on their wishlist for so long, and they were glad they hadn’t bought it now. Adding to the already exciting lineup of free games to play through the subscription, August 19 will also be a big day for PS Plus members, as a visually striking adventure title is making its debut.

If playing the survival multiplayer for free on PS Plus wasn’t enough of a perk, DayZ will also be receiving a massive new expansion. Titled Badlands, the expansion will welcome the Nasdara Province to explore, which is a desert region spanning 267km² of arid terrain. Players can wishlist the expansion now, despite the release window being a substantial wait away, and prepare to explore Nasdara’s secrets, build factions, or battle for dominance in a new chapter of players’ survivor stories.
