Many video games over the years have tried and failed in their attempts to put a dark spin on classic children’s tales, but Lies of P is not one of them. Despite being a loose adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s 1883 novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio, Round8 Studio’s steampunk-inspired game doesn’t fall into the same trappings as other mature titles inspired by popular fables. Lies of P‘s plot, setting, and characters feel rather unique, and its heavy emphasis on storytelling makes it stand out from the rest of its Soulslike peers. When it comes to gameplay, Lies of P is widely considered to be one of the best Soulslike games in recent memory.
Lies of P was released on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC nearly two years ago, but despite its age, the game is still in the cultural zeitgeist to this day. So far, Lies of P has sold over 3 million copies across all platforms, making it an instant success for both Round8 and Korean publisher Neowiz. Even though Round8 Studio just released a DLC for the title called Lies of P: Overture, many fans are itching to know when they will get to experience a new game in its universe. Fortunately, a sequel to Lies of P could be coming out sooner than some may think.
Lies of P: Overture was shadow-dropped on all available platforms during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest event in June.
A Sequel to Lies of P is Apparently Coming Out in Fiscal Year 2026
In an earnings report that it released last February, Neowiz provided some broad release windows for the projects in its current development pipeline. At the time, the company revealed that its then-unreleased Lies of P DLC would be launched in fiscal year 2025, alongside some other games, such as the mobile MMORPG Kingdom 2 and the PC-exclusive platformer Goodbye Seoul. Additionally, Neowiz listed a handful of games that were targeting a launch in fiscal year 2026. These included an untitled steampunk RPG from WolfEye Studios, an untitled noir-Western video game from Zakazane, and, most surprisingly, a Lies of P sequel.

It’s Surprising that Lies of P 2 is Seemingly Launching So Soon
Given that Neowiz and Round8 openly confirmed they were working on a Lies of P sequel less than two months after its initial release, the existence of a direct follow-up to the game probably won’t come as a shock to most fans. What will come as a shock, however, is the fact that it will supposedly be released so soon.
Since Lies of P 2 currently has a release window of FY 2026, it could conceivably be launched sometime between now and June 2026. In other words, players may be able to get their hands on the game in less than 12 months, and only a year after the launch of the Lies of P: Overture DLC, which itself took nearly two years to be released after the base game’s launch. Of course, many factors could push it to launch later than that.
There’s Not a Lot Known About Lies of P’s Sequel Yet, And It Could Get Delayed
While it’s exciting that a sequel to Lies of P could hit store shelves sometime in the near future, it’s worth noting that Neowiz has revealed virtually nothing about it yet. The only information about the game so far has come almost entirely from job listings on Neowiz’s official website. Earlier this year, for example, some keen-eyed fans spotted a job offer for Lies of P 2 that listed “someone with experience designing PvP balance systems” under its set of criteria.
Although it’d be great if Lies of P 2 actually came out next year, there are a few signs that the game could get hit with a delay. Not only have some of Neowiz’s upcoming titles been pushed back from FY 2025 to FY 2026, Round8 Studio has only just started to recruit key staff members for Lies of P 2‘s development.
Even a 2027 release date would be quite soon in relation to how the Overture DLC only just arrived. In spite of this, though, if the sequel to Lies of P does meet its FY 2026 deadline, then the game is bound to be announced somewhat soon, perhaps at an event like Gamescom or The Game Awards.
