“Like Hitting a Brick Wall” Players Have Issues With Body Collision in The First Descendant

Nexon has really done a great job with TFD and it’s mechanics. However, one of the things that could’ve been done better in the game is the “body block” mechanics. The First Descendant players have some issues with the body collision, and let’s see why that is.

Moving around is an important part of TFD. Speed is essential if you want to be as effective as possible, and that’s why Bunny is the go-to character when it comes to speed-farming. Players try to come up with ways to complete levels as fast as possible, even finding out that there is a special “strike” that can propel you even further when using the Grappling Hook. Every second counts, and since missions are usually repeated multiple times, those seconds add up. But there is something that can literally stop you in your tracks, and that is body collision. Sure, you can’t just pass through others like they’re not there, but the body block mechanics in TFD are a bit too severe and could do with some improvements.

The First Descendant Body Collision Mechanics Could Use Some Improvements

Generally, in games, when you bump into another character, you expect to simply “slide” to the side and continue on your merry way. But when that happens in TFD, you do a full stop, like hitting a wall. And it proved to be a larger issue than expected.

A lot of players have had it with body collision, some even asking for a complete removal of this mechanism saying it is more than annoying. But that is not all. You can even collide with other players when using the Grappling Hook, stopping both of you (usually with annoying results). Even Fellows can be a roadblock, as bumping into them will stop you and they can even body-block your abilities as well.

The biggest issue here is that it all functions like hitting a brick wall. You do a full stop. While some ask for a complete removal, it most likely is not going to happen. But, what we all agree on is some type of sliding-off would help immensely. “I wouldn’t mind the collision as much if we could stumble/roll off and/or spring each other instead of just instantly hitting a brick wall. The players are not asking for anything out of the ordinary, and hopefully, Nexon will do something about the body collision mechanics. Until then, watch where you’re going, or simply play Valby and glide freely through friends and foes alike.
