Mafia The Old Country Official Gameplay Trailer Just Dropped

We saw the last trailer somewhere in December 2024. And now, almost half a year after that, the official gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country has just been dropped.

The Mafia series has been going for a while now. It was originally made by Illusion Softworks (Mafia, 2002), which turned into 2K (Mafia II, 2010), and was finally taken over by their subsidiary, Hangar 13 (Mafia III, 2016). Almost nine years after the last Mafia game, the next title is about to be released. The gaming development technology has come a long way since 2016, and the last trailer looked amazing. The Old Country takes us back to the origins of the Sicilian Mafia (hence the game title) in the 1900s, and serves as a prequel to the first game. We saw some sneak peeks and some cutscenes from the game, and now, the gameplay trailer has finally been revealed.

It is happening. Right now, on May 8, Hangar 13 and 2K released the gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, which you can check out right here (the video is age-restricted and we cannot share it in this article, but it is available on YouTube).

Sure, there are differences between the gameplay itself and cutscenes, but not that much. You can see what the action looks like: sneaking, stealth assassinations, gunfights, and of course, riding horses and driving cars! Two in one! And there is a cool-looking “boss battle” in the end.

It is worth noting that the trailer says it “contains gameplay footage captured in engine and cinematics rendered for [the] trailer”. The game will officially be released on August 8, so the devs have a bit more time to polish things out where needed. Mafia: The Old Country is available for pre-order right now, costing about $49.99 for the Standard Edition. Additionally, preordering will net you “the Soldato Pack featuring distinctive cosmetics and a helpful Charm”. Only three months away!
